I started Tasigna in September. Started on 800 daily. Side effects way to much for me-won't list them all.

Dr. cut me back to 600. I am 60 years old. I have always had adult acne but now it is much much worse. I am getting bumps on my scalp, acne bumps/little boils on my face, bumps on other parts of my body.

What are these called? Is there anything that will help alleviate these?

I have been on Tasigna 600 mg daily for 5 years and have the same side effect. It is not acne, but I don't know what it is called. I get them randomly all over my body. I don't sweat it as they don't last more than a few days and don't itch.

Likely these are folliculitis. I continue to have s few of these even on 150 MG per day of Tasigna.  Suggest you make an appointment with your dermatologist - there are topical antibiotic treatments that can be effective.

I am glad it is working on your CML. My response has been excellent which has allowed me to reduce dose rapidly with my oncologist's consent.  When you get below MMR for a few months you should start the conversation about dose reduction.  My side effects were numerous and serious like yours, but are much much better now that I am on only 150.

Good luck Carrie - I do feel your pain.

Is it keratosis pilaris? I know the rash has been a topic in the past. I had it on Tasigna, but it went away when I stopped/changed to Gleevec. Come to think of it, I did have one boil while on Tasigna. Not sure if the TKI was the cause though. I had bumps on scalp at times and went through a period of time With painful, burning scalp.

600mg/day was rough on me, I can't imagine what it is like on 800mg/day. I hope your side effects improve or better, go completely away.

Hi Carrie,

I had that on Tasigna.  Early on I would cry when I brushed my hair, just in the first month.  Those scalp problems got tons better.  I would sometimes use a little topical antibiotic cream from the drug store on the more sore spots, which did help but is a little messy in the hair.

It got lots better on 450 a day.  I've just gone off the drug a week ago, scalp is a little smoother every day!

I'm agreeing with so many on this site that a good while at good results and conservative dose reductions are probably a really good way to go!

Hang in there, so glad it is working!!

Thanks for the replies. The bumps on my head might be different from the boil like acne cysts that come up under my skin. They just keep occurring on different areas of my face. I am not liking that at all. I can deal with the ones on my head/scalp and other body places, but being 60 and having skin problems on my face is depressing.

I hope my doctor will reduce my dose soon.
