I just picked up my first prescription for 2018.  The price is down from the $5,000 + range at the end of last year but somewhat higher than it was for the first 8 months last year.  It is also somewhat cheaper than estimated on the Medicare Plan Finder.  Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the pricing.

date       Rx                total cost         I paid      deductible YTD       phase 2 YTD       coverage gap YTD

1/23      imatinib       $1,911.85        $781.71        $405                   $1,911.85             $781.71

01/11/2017 BCR-ABL:ABL =   8.028

04/12/2017 BCR-ABL:ABL =   0.157

07/07/2017 BCR-ABL:ABL =   0.000

10/04/2017 BCR-ABL:ABL =   0.041

Thanks for that information Shweflen.  Your price of $1,911.85 for 90 X 100mg generic Imatinib Mesylate is much, much, lower than Dom's or Antilogical's price.   You are right; there isn't any rhyme or reason as to generic Imatinib Mesylate pricing.  There ought to be a law; Dom and Antilogical have every right to complain.   For the benefit of others, Shweflen is on the Humana Walmart Rx Plan.

At the earliest opportunity, and whenever possible, lower your TKI dosage; TKIs are toxic drugs and the less we take longterm the better off we are going to be ... this is especially true for older adults.

In hindsight I should have started my dosage reduction two years earlier; it might have helped minimize some of the longterm cumulative toxic effects of TKIs that I am beset with.

longterm side-effects Peripheral Artery Disease - legs (it's a bitch); continuing shoulder problems, right elbow inflammation.   GFR and creatinine vastly improved after stopping Gleevec.

Cumulative Gleevec dosage estimated at 830 grams

Taking Gleevec 400mg an hour after my largest meal of the day helped eliminate the nausea that Gleevec is notorious for.

Shweflen is on the Humana Walmart Rx Plan.

Sorry I forgot to include that.  I changed from Express-Scripts at the beginning of the year based on estimates from the Medicare Plan Finder.
