Today 5/30 Wall Street Journal has a major article explaining how Medicare Part D insurers get big discounts from Novartis and other specialty drug manufacturers but the benefits go to the plan sponsors, insurers, and spread across the premiums of all insured.

Meanwhile, the patients who need TKIs are left to pay 5% of a phony inflated list price.

Enough to make your blood boil.

The bottom line is that the bottom line on the budget sheets is more important than the well being of the people.

Wall Street Journal ran an article Monday, June 12 about a Federal investigation into charities that help seniors with the cost of expensive drugs.

These charities have largely been funded by the drug manufacturers themselves to get around the rules regarding providing assistance directly to seniors for their own drugs.

As a result of the investigation, drug companies have cut back on donations to the charities and have starting giving away drugs to very needy seniors.

Another example of our dysfunctional health care system.
