I started on lisinopryl about 18 months ago. Just turned 45 2 weeks ago.

Diagnosed in September 2011. Tried one year of Sprycel. Had great response. Became undetectable in a few months. Changed to Tasigna hoping for less side effects. Self medicated myself down to 20% dose and held for 3 years before becoming detectable again. It has been a journey that has helped me realize what life is about! I am all about a balanced life. I firmly agree with my decision to lower my dose. What is life if you aren't living? Mine will never be the way it was, but it is going to be as good as I can make it! Drs PRACTICE medicine, we can guide our dr to help us with a better life! Don't settle until it's acceptable to you!

If you get any joint pain it's probably the Lasix. My blood pressure is 140/90 at least half the time, but I can't take Lasix because I got gout in my ankle, had to stop. If you eliminate salt that really helps, and get your own Omron machine to take it yourself and you will probably see that is is lower than what you have now. I take Wellbutrin which also increases BP.

Always a conundrum to me:  Be. Happy.  Hmmm.  When don't feel happy.  Hmmm.

JPD - I sympathize.  You've got one more thing to contend with, and OF COURSE, it comes attached to a few more dangling things to get used to.  A person starts to feel very old, and like damaged goods.  Worst of all, like nothing is ever going to get better, only worse.  Drinking bleach is not the answer, however!  You have moved on and moved through before, shouldering your burdens, and that is all anyone can ask of you.

What I hope for you is that, someday, you will feel happiness.  I'm betting on it.

Dx July 2009 on routine physical.  WBC 94.  Started Gleevec 400 mg Sept 2009.  MMR at 2yrs.  Side effects (malaise, depression/anxiety, fatigue, nausea, periorbital edema) never improved.  Kidney issues developed because of Gleevec.  Switched to Sprycel 70 mg in Aug 2011.  Above side effects disappeared or improved.  Have been MR3.5 - 4.5 ever since.  Two untreated pleural effusions followed by one treated by stopping Sprycel Jan 2017.  After 9 weeks, PCR showed loss of MMR; re-started Sprycel at 50 mg and in 3 months was back to <0.01% IS.  Pleural effusion returned within a couple of months, same as before (moderate, left side only).  Stopped Sprycel 50 mg for 12 weeks; pleural effusion resolved.  At about a monthoff the drug, PCR was 0.03; at 11 weeks it was 2.06 - lost CCyR? Have returned to 50 mg Sprycel for 3 weeks, intending to reduce to 20 mg going forward.

JPD, you aren't the only one.  I was reluctantly started on BP meds at 37 and just a few months after my 40th birthday I was hit with the CML diagnosis. I have thought about drinking (not bleach) but my poor liver would probably shut down after my first sip of alcohol.  I definitely understand how you feel, but there is a long way to go before we start reaching for the Clorox.  Hopefully we will never get to that point, but if we do the second round is on me.  In the meantime, I try to stay optimistic about current research and the potential for a cure.  I also try to find comfort in the fact that by the time I reach retirement age Sprycel may cost the same as aspirin...

3/23/2016 Dx PCR 93.4399% IS, FISH 87%
3/30/16 Sprycel 100mg
4/15/2016 liver toxicity and a brief stint on Tasigna 600mg book-ended by drug breaks
6/6/2016 resumed Sprycel at 50 mg increased to 70 one month later followed by 100mg
6/17/2016 FISH Test 2%
8/22/2016 PCR 0.0035% IS
