Any stats or studies or STATS on transplants? I have been through 2 TKI`S and after Gleevec and Sprycel I am on Tasigna for almost 3 mos. awaiting my Pcr with ANXIETY! I have heard dreadful stories about STEM CELL transplants and at 68 I think IF that`s my final option -- I will retire to Greece where my grandparents came from and go fishing. Isn`t that a game plan? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I think I would do a trial over a SCT especially at your age.

08/2015 Initial PCR: 66.392%

12/2015 PCR: 1.573%

03/2016 PCR: 0.153%

06/2016 PCR: 0.070%

09/2016 PCR: 0.052%

12/2016 PCR: 0.036%

03/2017 PCR: 0.029%

06/2017 PCR: 0.028%

09/2017 PCR: 0.025%

12/2017 PCR: 0.018%

They have seen good success with reduced intensity conditioning for transplant. Timing of the transplant is important as you will see greater success if transplanted in the chronic phase. Have you been HLA typed and has a cursory search been performed for a match? Having a good match can also give you some confidence going into the procedure to minimize the risk of GVHD.

Hello Trey, hope you are doing well.

These two links (about BMT survival) on your page do not seem to work anymore:

I highly encourage you to visit the SCT forum here. There are many there your age and older who have successfully traversed the SCT path. I am an AML survivor who was fortunate to go the chemo only route nearing three years off treatment, by the grace of almighty God. Many assume AML is a death sentence. I'm living proof that it is possible to endure treatment complication free and live a healthier life after. Everyones jorney is unique and often we only hear of the bad outcomes. I truly feared SCT until I learned of many who are doing well.
