Anybody taking both? My BP has been on a steady incline this past year...I have had periods of higher bp prior to CML diagnosis 3 years ago. Once on Sprycel, numbers declined to 120/75-80. Now, i am looking at 160/87-90. Lisinopril gives me cough...doc wants to try Losartan. Anybody else on both? What has worked?

Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (constricts the blood vessels) and is recommended as first-line treatment in patients under 55 who do not tolerate an ACE inhibitor such as Lisinopril.  But if you have edema from the Sprycel a diuretic such as Lasix might be a better approach for lowering blood pressure, but ask your docs.

My son was on a Clonidine patch as well as Amlodipine for high blood pressure while on Sprycel.

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker which caused a CYP 3A4 inhibition by Dastinib. This increased the exposure of Amlodipine so he needed very little of it to control his blood pressure. Other than that we did not notice any issues while he was taking these medications.

I have isolated systolic high blood pressure. The trick was getting my systolic below 140 while not tanking my diastolic which is always in the low 60s and sometimes below. Dyazide didn't do the the trick, lisinopril at various levels with HTZ always tanked my diastolic and I felt like crap. 10mg. of lisinopril (I don't have the cough) seems to do the trick.

Good luck.

I have been taking Amlodipine with Sprycel for several months now. I have noticed that my blood pressure has been more stable than it used to be. Can you tell me what dosage of Amlodipine he was taking?  I am wondering if I should look into reducing from 5mg to 2.5mg.

Thank you, that is very helpful. I will ask about a lower dose when I visit the doctor next.
