Today I got my 12 month PCR results back the result was .209 for my 12 month just slightly down from .259 at my 9 month. I know any trend downwards is good but now I am going back over my CBC from this same appointment and I see my absolute eosinophil was elevated at .7 (0.0-0.6) and my WBC was normal but high for me at 9.8 (3.5-10.5), I am usually at .3 for eosinophils and around 6 for WBC. I did have a runny nose the day of my appointment which subsided just a few days later so I suppose that could account for the eosinophils if it was allergy related.

Elevated WBC's, Eosinophils can absolutely be the result of allergies. Chances are you're back in the normal range as your symptoms alleviated. You're fine.

You're PCR is in a normal plateau. Chances are it will resume dropping at next test.

Just have to say your PCR numbers are good. Your PCR is below 1 which is good. My numbers have been up and down and I have worried every test and minor movement of numbers up or down and I always want my number lower, the stress of all that is awful. But my mind set changed this last year when I had to stop Tasigna and go on Bosuitinib. The change was really hard and my numbers went up my Dr. Started pushing for transplant my worst fear. So I went to consult with Dr. Ducker and he first helped me to appreciate that I am still here after 12 years with CML and then he talked about the PCR numbers, they bounce up and down and that keeping that number below 1is the key . So I always wish for PCRU but I celebrate anything smaller than 1 . Celebrate you are in a good spot.

Chicago John,

Your numbers are good and the elevated WBC and eosinophils are normal for allergies.

Tucker, thanks for sharing your story and conversation with Dr Ducker. I love how we're reminded anything below 1 is the key. PCRU is something we all want, but like you said anything below 1 is also a good spot to be in and takes some of the anxiety away.
Dx - 05/2011; PCR: 15.04; Fish: 87% Slow responder due to pancytopenia. Current - Bosulif - Nov: 2012, Mar 2016 lowered to 300 mg. 07/16 back to 400 mg. Clinical trial drug, Promacta, Feb 2013, for low Platelets.
CyCR - Aug 2014, Positive for 1 chromosome Sep 2015. PCR: 12.77 in Oct, 2012 to 0.04 (MDA) in Mar, 2016. 4/2016 - 0.126 (Local lab (IS); 05/2016 - 0.195 (local); 6/2016 - 0.07 (MDA); 7/2016 - 0.03 (local) 9/13/2016 - 0.16 (MDA); 9/26/2016 - 0.31 (MDA); 11/2016 - 0.012 (local); 01/2017 - 0.24 (MDA); 04/2017 - 0.09 (MDA); Cytogenetics show der(1:7)(q10;p10)7 chromosome mutation. Repeat of Sep 2015. PCR - 6/2017- 0.035 (local); 10/2017- 0.02 (MDA)

Probably no point in getting another CBC to verify this but part of me kind of wants to...

Thanks for sharing, I have read a lot of research that shows having <1% for over 2 years is nearly the same prognostic factor as having MMR so looks like you are in very good shape. I just can't imagine waiting for two years at <1% but no MMR to stop my worrying, but Ill just hope I get MMR sooner than later. I don't stress nearly as much about it as I had the first few months though.

Hi, John.  My numbers are similar - seemed to plateau the last 9 months but Dr. Druker also explained to me that in addition to being under 1.0, a downward trend is what he looks for over time and even minor jumps are usually due to the specific nature of the test.  He also said just keep taking the meds, manage the side effects and don't worry about every test - (I always think it is easier for them to say then actually do) however after my visit with him last week I do feel so much better about my numbers.  Take care.

Thanks for sharing! Our numbers are very similar, I think yours are the most similar to mine I have seen on this forum so far. I often wonder how many of us would not have these minor jumps if the test were to be more accurate. The plateaus seem to be the nature of the disease and how the TKIs affect it but I wonder if the minor jumps are not really there at all and we would just see plateaus and small decreases if the test were more accurate.
