I found these while I was wasting more time then I would like to admit on Pinterest and thought I would share them with you. My hope is they will bring a smile and maybe a chuckle. While they appear to be aimed more at women I prefer to think of them as gender neutral!

Hi Pat, Oh those are perfect, sometimes it seems like someone else is reading our minds when they write these cartoons.  How in the hell did you post them, I can't post a picture and every time I try to do something different I screw up my whole computer. Sometimes both computers. Then I have to call the geek squad, and they say "Okay Mam that's an easy problem to solve just go to your browser where the hashtag is" so the first half hour on the phone he is trying to explain what a browser bar is and what a hashtag is. So the easy fix usually takes 2 hours minumin. I know spelled it wrong, Those guys really deserve a raise after they talk to me.

Love the second one.  Seems like there should be some positive side effects. . . maybe that actually IS a side effect, but none of us ever noticed.

Enjoyed reading the jokes, and so glad to see how many of my old friends are still posting. I keep trying to get back on here, and everyday is a new adventure with other problems. Hope everyone is doin well. This December will be 18 years of Living With CML and I am 15 years PCRU now.
I still get the fatigue and the Orbital Edema. I also get the foot and hand cramps, sometimes I wonder if something else is going on.
I have to try to make time to get back and share.
God Bless All

Nice to see you here Susan. Wish you would drop your dosage to at least 300mg, some of the Gleevec side effects will disappear for you. :-)

Not a problem, Billie! This post was just for fun anyway.

Susan61,

18 years! That is so hard to believe. I know you've been struggling with other health issues, I'm so glad you took the time to post. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I wonder if some of your side effects would disappear if you dropped your dose to 200 mg. I wouldn't think after 15 years PCRU (how delightfully boring your lab report must be. "Undetectible -  again") there would be much danger.

Take care and come back soon!

Pat

I've said the same thing myself more than once.

For the benefit of yourself and others please add your CML history into your Signature

02/2010 Gleevec 400mg

2011 Two weakly positives, PCRU, weakly positive

2012 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, PCRU

2013 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, weakly positive

2014 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, PCRU (12/07 began dose reduction w/each continuing PCRU)

2015 300, 250, 200, 150

2016 100, 50/100, 100, 10/17 TFR

2017 01/17 TFR, 04/18 TFR, 07/18 TFR 0.0012, 08/29 TFR 0.001, 10/17 TFR 0.000

2018 01/16 TFR 0.0004 ... next quarterly PCR 04/17

At the earliest opportunity, and whenever possible, lower your TKI dosage; TKIs are toxic drugs and the less we take longterm the better off we are going to be ... this is especially true for older adults.

In hindsight I should have started my dosage reduction two years earlier; it might have helped minimize some of the longterm cumulative toxic effects of TKIs that I am beset with.

longterm side-effects Peripheral Artery Disease - legs (it's a bitch); continuing shoulder problems, right elbow inflammation.   GFR and creatinine vastly improved after stopping Gleevec.

Cumulative Gleevec dosage estimated at 830 grams

Taking Gleevec 400mg an hour after my largest meal of the day helped eliminate the nausea that Gleevec is notorious for.

I agree, Susan61.  Wouldn't you like to see what you look like without the Gleevec Mr. Toad eyes?  THE PERIORBITAL EDEMA GOES AWAY WITHOUT GLEEVEC - really!

Dx July 2009 on routine physical.  WBC 94.  Started Gleevec 400 mg Sept 2009.  MMR at 2yrs.  Side effects (malaise, depression/anxiety, fatigue, nausea, periorbital edema) never improved.  Kidney issues developed because of Gleevec.  Switched to Sprycel 70 mg in Aug 2011.  Above side effects disappeared or improved.  Have been MR3.5 - 4.5 ever since.  Two untreated pleural effusions followed by one treated by stopping Sprycel Jan 2017.  After 9 weeks, PCR showed loss of MMR; re-started Sprycel at 50 mg and in 3 months was back to <0.01% IS.  Pleural effusion returned within a couple of months, same as before (moderate, left side only).  Stopped Sprycel 50 mg for 12 weeks; pleural effusion resolved.  At about a monthoff the drug, PCR was 0.03; at 11 weeks it was 2.06 - lost CCyR? Have returned to 50 mg Sprycel for 3 weeks, intending to reduce to 20 mg going forward.

Hi, Susan61!  Great to hear from you!  I also agree on cutting dosage.  I'm now down to 25 mg Sprycel.  When I first talked to my doc about cutting dosage, he wasn't thrilled with the idea, but he is definitely now in agreement that the lowest dosage to maintain good results is the way to go.  Talk with your doc about it.

Take care!

Marnie

RE: Good side effects

What a coincidence...had the radio on and a commercial caught my ear. The woman wanted her prescriptions with no side effects. (Yeah, don't we all) Turns out there is some new DNA test that they do with a swab to the cheek. The result is finding the drug best suited with minimal side effects. Has anyone heard/seen a similar one? The commercial was Daunhauer Drugs (Owensboro, KY) part of Good Neighbor Pharmacy network. Glancing at their website, I couldn't seem to find it.

Sure would be nice if we could be easily matched with the TKI with the least amount of side effects to each of us. One day.....

DX 1/14; Sprycel 100 Mg, liver toxicity; Sprycel 80 Mg; down to 50 Mg for 5 months. Numbers going up. Back to 80 Mg 10/16 (with 50s slipped in to use up) BCR/ABL: .0047 12/15; .0302 4/16;  .0528 8/16;  .084 10/16; .045, 1/17 back up on 80 mg Sprycel; .006, 3/17; .016, 7/17; Shingles 8/17

And I just found this one, definitely a happy dance.

attachicon.gifLess cancery.jpg

I like this one the best.  I'm very happy to be less cancer-y than I was.  Also, I'm much happier with my new oncologist as well.  She actually listened to me, acknowledged that my side effect issues were caused by Sprycel, and said we'd work on them together.  It was a breath of fresh air.

DX 3/30/2016 WBC 484.2 FISH 95.3

took Hydrea 3/30-4/11

taking Sprycel 100 mg since 4/5

10 day break from Sprycel for platelet count of 12 4/26-5/8

7/07/2016 1.47% (IS)

9/30/16 BMB PCR .1259 switched to new onc

12/30/16 PCR .1569

4/7/17 PCR .0904 MMR

7/14/17 PCR .0520
