I am starting to get phone calls, see ads, and hear media reports about Proposition 61.

It would require the state to negotiate drug prices that are no more than the VA pays.

So far, I have only heard extreme opinions on both sides that are not based on any substance.

I would like to hear what the other Californians on this board are thinking about this important issue on the November ballot.

I'm not in California but I had to research this out of curiosity.  Anytime Big Pharma is pouring money into defeating something, you know it can only be good for the people.

Pharma has taken note. Companies like AbbVie  ABBV 0.02% , Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and others have already poured more than $70 million into defeating the initiative—by far the most money being spent on any California referendum this year.

It appears to only affect medicaid, not prices private insurers would pay.

Big Pharma Spending Big to Defeat California Drug Price Measure - https://goo.gl/611zcd

The battle over a California ballot measure to put a stop to pharmaceutical price gouging is heating up as the election draws near, with Big Pharma pitting itself against consumer watchdogs, parents of sick children, and nurses.

Big Pharma has spent nearly $90 million to defeat Proposition 61, which "would require all prescription drugs purchased by the state of California to be priced at or below the price paid by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which pays the lowest price of any federal agency," as the Los Angeles Daily News writes.

At the earliest opportunity, and whenever possible, lower your TKI dosage; TKIs are toxic drugs and the less we take longterm the better off we are going to be ... this is especially true for older adults.

In hindsight I should have started my dosage reduction two years earlier; it might have helped minimize some of the longterm cumulative toxic effects of TKIs that I am beset with.

longterm side-effects Peripheral Artery Disease - legs (it's a bitch); continuing shoulder problems, right elbow inflammation.   GFR and creatinine vastly improved after stopping Gleevec.

Cumulative Gleevec dosage estimated at 830 grams

Taking Gleevec 400mg an hour after my largest meal of the day helped eliminate the nausea that Gleevec is notorious for.

If that were to pass, Big Phama also has the ability to block it using the courts.  Big Auto/Big Oil teamed up to defeat California's electric/hybrid laws back when Bushy was pres and they used the courts to win in the end over the will of the people (not surprisingly).
