I do a lot of reading and stumbled on a post which made mention of this diet for "curing" (according to them) cancer.  From my research on it, doctors do mention it has anti-cancer capabilities and someone on the forums mentioned it in another post recently for diabetes control (which it also does).  Just wondering if anyone on the forums follows this diet?

lol, when I read about this diet which is completely contradictory to my own (vegetarian-lite), I thought that it was something the fast food industry had cooked up.  ;)

My husband and I are trying to reduce carbs. It's hard. Everything in human culture at this time is based on carbs. "Bread, the staff of life.", or rice or potatoes. I think my fatigue feels worse when I get in ketosis. One is supposed to feel better after a couple days, but I've never been able to stick it out long enough. But I figure, even trying reduces the amount of Round up sprayed (GMO) food I eat.

Although I am thin, under 50 and exercise, my blood sugar has been high (even fasting).  My DNA mother now has metabolic syndrome, but she is overweight and in her early 70s.  She is the only one with Type 2 diabetes in my family (no one else is overweight).  I have heard that a ketogenic diet can help normalize blood glucose.  I am on such a diet now and will see how my blood comes out in July.  I eat no grains and no sugar.  I don't think it will cure CML, but it may help prevent me from getting metabolic syndrome that may hurry along heart disease or diabetes due to either genetics and/or the TKI.  Ironically, no one has or has had heart disease in my family on both sides--only stomach cancer and now CML.

Hot dogs are not the best in terms of nutrition.  But they sure taste good!  I so miss bread, but if this diet makes me healthier, then I can live without.  Right now, I am shooting for under 100 carbs per day (so hard to give up fruit, esp. the summer bounty--but I am trying to keep it at a minimum).  I'll probably go lower in winter.  You have to make a lot of your own food.  It takes a lot of work and willpower.

Please keep in touch if anyone out there is on this diet.

Teds

And I understand you can have metabolic syndrome and not be overweight.  I just meant this may be why my mother has type 2 Diabetes.
