Diagnosed Oct 2013 Started 600mg of Tasigna on Nov 4th. Lowered dose a few months later to 300mg due to side affects stayed here declining PCR until March 2015 small jump from 0.0072 to 0.0083 scarred my doc into full dose of Tasigna again 600mg(been miserable since) but reached PCRU 06/15/2015(next test) and have been there ever since. Hoping to have another little one. I have the support of my doc to go off anytime, just scared to jump. might go two years PCRU but he said it wont make much of a difference. I just figured I could possibly go into a trial while preggers if I got the two years behind me.
Nov 8th 2017 went off Tasigna
Dec 1st PCRU off TKI
Jan 5th PCR Detected .0625
Feb 1st PCR Detected .7815
Added 8-6 grams Curcumin daily in Feb
March 3rd PCR Detected 3.2646 YIKES!
stopped trying for baby after February reading. will start new TKI march 16th 2017 (Sprycel)
FYI I'm not done trying for my last little one.

2018 01/16 TFR 0.0004 ... next quarterly PCR 04/17
At the earliest opportunity, and whenever possible, lower your TKI dosage; TKIs are toxic drugs and the less we take longterm the better off we are going to be ... this is especially true for older adults.
In hindsight I should have started my dosage reduction two years earlier; it might have helped minimize some of the longterm cumulative toxic effects of TKIs that I am beset with.
longterm side-effects Peripheral Artery Disease - legs (it's a bitch); continuing shoulder problems, right elbow inflammation. GFR and creatinine vastly improved after stopping Gleevec.
Cumulative Gleevec dosage estimated at 830 grams
Taking Gleevec 400mg an hour after my largest meal of the day helped eliminate the nausea that Gleevec is notorious for.

Congratulations, TG, what a beautiful little boy. (Congratulations to your wife, too, seeing as she did most of the hard work!)
You'll be around for your family for many years!
I was diagnosed with CML at the more typical age of 57, I can't even imagine the stress that you young people go through while having a family, establishing your career and trying to live a normal life. I admire you all more then I can say.

Lab drawn last week results: 0.0440 i.s.!!!!!!
(new lab however)
A sick part of me is hesitant to accept this. Man, I hope this is real and sustainable!
My ALT and AST are both elevated at:
Ast- 49 (upper limit 34)
Alt- 79 (upper limit 49)
But I'm hoping this resolves or that I can blame on what I think was an accidental double dose one night last week.
Bmb noted :
-"moderately hypocellular for age (~30-40%) with moderately trilineage hypoplasia.
-no evidence of increased blasts
-adequate storage iron and no ring sideroblasts.
-peripheral blood with no significant morphological abnormalities.

Thatguy,
I've been following your liver issues. "Normal" ranges differ from lab to lab; they are just guidelines. In my lab, normal for AST is 5-41 and ALT is 5-54.
In June of 2009 (7 months after I was dxed and I was on Gleevec 400mg) my ALT went up to 80 and my AST went up to 50+. My local onc said he would watch it but said they don't pay much attention until it gets above 100.
I had an appointment with my doc at Mayo Rochester in August and I happened to mention it - my labs hadn't come back yet so he had them fast track them. My AST (they don't regularly do ALT for some reason) was over 700 at that point. He ordered an ALT and liver ultrasound. My ultrasound was normal with the exception of a couple of small cysts (not considered remarkable). My ALT was even higher though at 1200. I felt great and Dr. L was unsure why such a severe reaction after 9 months. I stopped G and waited for my counts to come down. I was warned that my counts would probably go higher and they did topping out at 1300+ AST and 1500+ ALT. During all this time I felt great. I always thought I felt great on Gleevec, but it wasn't until the break that I remembered how feeling really good actually felt! BTW, I wasn't taking Tylenol and I'm not an alcoholic so no undue stress on my liver that I knew off.
After 7 weeks they were both below 80 and I started on Sprycel 100 mg. Never had an elevated liver enzyme issue with Sprycel.
I know several members on Tasigna posted about increased liver enzymes on Tasigna (up to about your level). After a short break the liver enzyme issues seemed to resolve. I'm mentioning this because your onc seems to have a habit of going off the deep end and I didn't want him to switch you to Iclusig just because of the blip in your liver enzymes!
Congratulations on your newest PCR!
Pat

Congratulations on the new test results! It is fantastic that the Bosulif appears to be working out. As Pat said, don't worry about the liver numbers. I am working my way off of steroids currently as a doctor was concerned about my values, but they were over 100. Prior to that my ALT hit 90 and the doctor was unconcerned. I am not sure if a double dose would cause the increase, but I suppose it could be. I was under the impression that Gleevec and Tasigna were harder on the liver compared to Sprycel and Bosulif, so if the values didn't get elevated for you back when you took either of those, I suspect that things will level off and you will have no trouble. The one thing you might want to do is see if you can have those levels checked after a couple of weeks to see if they are still increasing. Mine went up pretty quick from 90 to 128. People also recommended Milk Thistle when I first ran into the problem with my ALT. It might be worth looking into. If I have trouble after getting fully off the steroids, I will start taking Milk Thistle again.

thatguy, hoping your August PCR will show you back on track.
For the benefit of yourself and others please add your CML history into your Signature
02/2010 Gleevec 400mg
2011 Two weakly positives, PCRU, weakly positive
2012 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, PCRU
2013 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, weakly positive
2014 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, PCRU (12/07 began dose reduction w/each continuing PCRU)
2015 300, 250, 200, 150
2016 100, 50/100, 100, 10/17 TFR
2017 01/17 TFR, 04/18 TFR, 07/18 TFR 0.0012, 08/29 TFR 0.001, 10/17 TFR 0.000
