Oh my, I so hope you get to feeling better.  I wouldn't think it was to be taken on a regular basis.  When I was much, much younger, like in my late 20s, I got to throwing up and couldn't stop. I was put in the hospital and diagnosed with reflux.  I just mention this because that would have been my last guess-- I had no clue or other symptoms of reflux. They gave me Reglan which is supposed to promote peristalsis.  IIRC, nowadays, Reglan should be taken on a temporary basis.

Have you talked to your doctor about all the nausea?  Maybe run your question by a pharmacist and GI doc too.

I took it everyday for about 10 months while on Gleevec. It was a necessity to function, and didn't cause any immediate harm at least.

Thatguy, did the nausea clear up...if I'm going to feel this way for the next 20 years, I'd rather be dead.

With the generic Zofran (ondensetron), it was a miracle. 1 pill with my med took care of my nausea all day and night. It was dirt cheap too.

A very friendly Pharmacist recommended vitamin B6 to me when my wife was pregnant (insurance didn't want to cover the cost of the medicine which was nearly $700).  Just be sure to check how much you are supposed to take and for how long and the safety page.

Also, when are you taking your medicine?  I am on 400 mg Gleevec and if I take mine about an hour after lunch I am fine (except for temporary tiredness which lasts no more than two hours).  Some others have had more luck with breaking the medicine into two does (once in the morning and once at night) or taking before bedtime (sleep through the nausea).

What drug are you taking?  Are you taking other medicines that could be the cause?  Imatinib's half life is 18 hours in the body, seems like you would have the nausea right after you take it.  I have on occasion taken mine a bit later than one hour after lunch or taken it on an empty stomach and did have nausea problems but that typically subsided after a few more hours.  Never had it the next day.

Only side effect I've consistently seen in pregnant patients takin ondansetron 4 times a day is sleepiness and constipation. Are you having problems with those symptoms? And btw, I know about the studies showing slight increased risk of fetal cardiac anomalies with it, but if you read the 1 study showing that finding, it is a very negligible finding. Of course, it would be unethical to try to replicate a study so there won't be much more data. Many ob's still prescribe it if other treatments fail
