"ibuprofen because it interferes with the gleevecs ability to work"
Can somebody please point me to a study that covers the specifics of this?
Thanks.

So here we go again with different docs and different opinions. I just asked my onc last week about what to take for the back pain. She said no Aleve, Advil, or Naprosyn (my previous doc had prescribed this). Aspirin OK, Tylenol OK. No wonder we are so confused about these things. I am going to ask about the diclofenac. Sounds like a good option.

Seems the jury is still out on mixing Gleevec and Ibuprofen, as pointed out in the study. Just FYI: I have taken Gleevec 14-plus years, all the while downing plenty of Ibuprofen for the arthritis I've had since early adulthood - with hem/onc's approval. He said no Aleve or aspirin. Gleevec worked just fine (undetectable nearly all that time). Oh no....more confusion. Wouldn't you love to have a clear roadmap for this journey?

lol, my oncologist started me on an aspirin regimen due to a temporary loss of vision in one eye (he believed it to be a blood clot) and I have to see a neurologist and get my eyes checked also. He mentioned aspirin is also good for your heart which is not bad for us TKI users.

I guess different doctors will have different opinions. Ultimately we have to make choices and balance the risks.
