Have been on Tasigna since diagnosis in July. In January started having issues with high Lipase readings. Had labs again today and again told to stop med for week and then retest. This is really making me nervous. Has anyone experienced this? When I stopped med a couple of weeks ago it went down so pretty sure it's the Tasigna.

These TKIs are very strange in how they interact with people. The effects on people always seem to be different. My Lipase has always been low since starting Tasigna 16 months ago. My last test was a 16 which is right about where it's been the entire time.

Both my lipase and amylase tripled on my blood test, taken yesterday. I am on Sprycel 50 mg. Are you also on cholesterol med? I am.
They will retest my blood in a week. Good luck.

Dx 2/2015 BCR-ABL1 (p210) 85.2% (IS) 3/15

     22%  5/15     0.13% 6/15   PCRU attained 9/15

Initial dose Sprycel 100 mg 3/15  Lowered 80 mg 5/15   Lowered 50 mg 1/16

Note: dose lowered bc of side effects - not bc onc wanted to reduce dosage

Sprycel: Currently 50 mg per day - taken 10 pm

Both Lipase and Amylase should be used to determine if pancreas markers are increased.  A drug break can help reset the issue if the test numbers are significantly high.  But it does not necessarily mean the pancreas is damaged.  These tests are circumstantial, not a one-to-one relationship.

Had labs again today (had them last week too) and Lipase reading down again..They said "normal". Now was told to start my tasigna again but half dose...300 mg per day. Will check Lipase again in 2 weeks. I am just confused. Won't the Lipase just go back up?

Sometimes the drug break actually fixes the issue.  Sometimes it does not.  The lower dosage is a good idea for a while, maybe a month or so.
