If it's December, must be bone marrow time.

And ... yes, there it is on my calendar.

Went for a bone marrow today and decided after the procedure, that I'm done with bone marrow's. All they do is "monitor" and the result is the same year after year (since reaching MMR and below).

So I am making an executive decision that I am no longer going to have an annual bone marrow aspiration. As long as my PCR is MMR or below, I'm good.

Diagnosed 11 May 2011 (100% FiSH, 155% PCR)

with b2a2 BCR-ABL fusion transcript coding for the 210kDa BCR-ABL protein

Sprycel: 20 mg per day - taken at lights out with Quercetin and/or Magnesium Taurate

6-8 grams Curcumin C3 complex.

2015 PCR: < 0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

2016 PCR: < 0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

March        2017 PCR:     0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

June          2017 PCR:     "undetected"

September 2017 PCR:     "undetected"

ME TOOO! ME TOOO! Well I wish. I have only had two done thus far. Hoping to keep it that way. Got my 3rd undetected(PCRU) result yesterday.....two more to go! Sorry not hijacking your post just sharin :D  TREY: Sharin NOT SHARTIN.........I do not appreciate those BMB's at all........

Diagnosed Oct 2013 Started 600mg of Tasigna  on Nov 4th. Lowered dose a few months later to 300mg due to side affects stayed here declining PCR until March 2015 small jump from 0.0072 to 0.0083 scarred my doc into full dose of Tasigna again 600mg(been miserable since) but reached PCRU 06/15/2015(next test) and have been there ever since. Hoping to have another little one. I have the support of my doc to go off anytime, just scared to jump. might go two years PCRU but he said it wont make much of a difference. I just figured I could possibly go into a trial while preggers if I got the two years behind me.

Nov 8th 2017 went off Tasigna

Dec 1st PCRU off TKI

Jan 5th PCR Detected .0625

Feb 1st PCR Detected .7815

Added 8-6 grams Curcumin daily in Feb

March 3rd PCR Detected 3.2646 YIKES!

stopped trying for baby after February reading. will start new TKI march 16th 2017 (Sprycel)

FYI I'm not done trying for my last little one.

I've only had two BMB's in nearly five years. Wonder why you have to get one every year. Like you, they're gonna have to have a real good reason before I agree to do that again.

Dx: 01 March 2011

Sprycel 100 mg per day since dx

MMR: July 2013

numerous side effects

Thankful for the gift of each new day, and try to live it to the fullest  :D

Although I am new to the forum I had one BMB to diagnose and my doctor at Moffitt in Tampa always does one at 3 months to see how med. Is working. Both times it was done in outpatient with anesthesia. Dr. Said that that is the only way they do it there. It all was very simple. Went in at 10 and was out at noon. My PCP

said he would never allow his patient to have one at oncologist office.

Scuba,

That would be reasonable except for the Trisomy 8.  If it persists, I would highly suggest continuing them.  And ask your wife for permission -- you do not own full rights to your medical decisions.  You have already proven she is smarter than you are.  Ha ha.

The Trisomy 8 appeared after taking Sprycel and has been with me ever since. It will be interesting to see what this years results show since I was off Sprycel for most of the year. As long as my CBC and PCR continue as they have, however, I no longer see the point of annual bone marrows. It's not clear that Trisomy 8 has any impact on my status except perhaps on the continued mild myelosuppression (RBC). My CBC, for the first time since I resumed Sprycel showed the characteristic drop in blood counts. Nothing severe, just measurable. And on only 20mg. I am very sensitive to this drug.

You are quite correct that my wife is much smarter than me in these matters (all matters). That is why I don't ask permission. I already know the answer. She'll cite more of your posts.
