My doc says colds get better in two weeks if you take medicine and 14 days if you don't take medicine. In other words, the cold virus takes two weeks to get over no matter what you do. A fever is 100.8 degrees or above. If not that high it's not a fever but is your immune system increasing body temp to kill off the virus. Don't treat the temperature under 100.8. Just drink tons of fluids and rest.

Fever does tend to elevate at night.  Hope you feel better soon, Jerry.

How high did your fever go?  After I had a fever of over 102 for 4 days, I went to the cancer center and they took some blood tests.

My sodium was very low and my glucose was very high.  They checked me in and gave me some antibiotics and saline IV until the fever was gone and the sodium and glucose stabilized.

They pulled a CBC and only my potassium seemed to be low . I've had a fever 6 out of 7 days only at night followed by head ache from hell but really that's it . Doctor called me this morning and wants to give one more night because the fever went a wall on Saturday only to come back on Sunday night .
