Background: I was diagnosed in January 2015 with a WBC of 220,000, PCR of 195%, and FISH of 20/20. Chronic phase. Started on 400mg of Gleevec.

At 2 months my WBC was normal.

Just got my 6 mo PCR results, and I'm at 1.6%! I know my Onc was shooting for <1%, but I'm pretty happy. Now I'm just waiting for the FISH results...

Question for Trey...I'm looking back at my first BMB results, and trying to understand exactly what the notation means...

46,XX,t(9;22)(q34;q11.2)[20]

I think I understand everything but the (q34;q11.2). Can you explain what this notation means?

Thanks so much!

That is the standard Philadelphia Chromosome.  All 20 WBCs examined were leukemic.  The (q34;q11.2) shows where the chromosomes broke off before re-joining to form the Philadelphia Chromosome, which was on the long arms of each chromosome 9 and 22 (long arms are represented by the "q"), and in region 34 on chromosome 9 and in region 11.2 on chromosome 22.
