How soon after taking the first dose of Gleevec should I expect to see side effects occur? Took 400 mg with dinner about two and a half hours ago and still feeling fine so far. Just curious. Thx!

Hopefully you will continue to feel fine. Everybody's different and many people have hardly any side effects. It helps that you took it with a meal. Good luck!
My facts:
Diagnosed 2003 and have taken Gleevec 400 mg until recently. I am now taking 200 mg and will go have PCR testing every three months to see if all stays relatively stable. Have bounced between PCRU, PCR "weak positive", and .005 ever since. Had a brief rise in PCR in 2005 for which I added Interferon (Yuck!) for 6 months which sent me back to previous levels and left me with neuropathy.

It took a couple of weeks before I noticed anything different. I started retaining water at that point.
Dx: Sudden severe anemia detected 07/2011, followed by WBC spike. CML Dx 02/2012.
Rx: 03/2012-Gleevec400. Reduced 02/2013 to Gleevec300 due to side effects (low blood counts).
Response: PCR-Und within 7 mo. on G400. Maintained MMR4-MMR4.5 on G300. PCR-Und since 02/2016.

The first side effect that some people notice is nausea, but not many are severely effected by it. It may depend what food you take with it. I found oatmeal worked best for me. After a while, it wasn't an issue.

I think it took about a week before the rash turned up for me.
