I became imatinib resistant after 8 years. What kind of reduction in trancripts is reasonable to expect in first 3 months of dasatinib therapy? I had gotten to 1.7 international scale before making the switch. All other values have remained stable with no side effects and I am at the gym everyday swimming 1.5 miles per day.

What was your best reading on IS before the switch?  How much and how long of an uptrend did you have?

I went from 82.5 to 0.13 in 3 mos on Sprycel.

Dx 2/2015 BCR-ABL1 (p210) 85.2% (IS) 3/15

     22%  5/15     0.13% 6/15   PCRU attained 9/15

Initial dose Sprycel 100 mg 3/15  Lowered 80 mg 5/15   Lowered 50 mg 1/16

Note: dose lowered bc of side effects - not bc onc wanted to reduce dosage

Sprycel: Currently 50 mg per day - taken 10 pm

I've had good results with Sprycel as well. I'm PCRU now but it did take me about 18 months on Sprycel to get there. Everyone will have a different response rate. If 1.7% IS was your best response after 8 years on Gleevac I am guessing that Sprycel could be more effective for you.

Take care,

I achieved pcru and maintained for 5 years. It crept up slowly to 1.7 IS over 2 1/2 years.

I did have a mutation test done. No mutation. I haven't had a "fish"" done since dx in 2006. I see two separate oncologist & use 2 different labs. They show the same trends but bcr transcripts are different albeit within margin of error.
