General symptoms of dangerously high blood potassium levels include fatigue, weakness, nausea and vomiting. When blood potassium levels are too high, it can inhibit muscle regulation, including heartbeat. This can lead to an irregular heartbeat, reduced or absent pulse, muscle weakness and difficulty breathing. Additional symptoms can include tingling and numbness in the extremities and paralysis.

Your body regulates magnesium levels by shifting magnesium into and out of cells.  When there is a breakdown or destruction of cells, the electrolyte magnesium moves from inside the cell, to outside of the cell wall.  This shift of magnesium outside of the cells causes hypermagnesemia.
Magnesium is excreted by your kidneys. Any damage to your kidneys, when they are not working properly, may cause an increase in magnesium levels.

Gerry, thanks, I just noticed I'm back to pre CML levels of Potassiums, so I might not take the supplements, because they have made me nauseous, which open an new can of worms.

Hope you're weekend is going well....

It is difficult to get too much potassium, although it is possible if you try hard enough.  If you get too much magnesium you shart yourself silly and then you stop doing that.

One sharts themselves silly. I might use that for an excuse in the future.

Shortly after dx I had terrible anxiety and tried a product called Natural Calm, which is a flavored, fizzy, mostly magnesium power. The dosage was 1 tsp but in my rush I misread and mixed a whole tablespoon.

Not sure how I made it through the night, but the next morning I found myself being cleaned out on the toilet in less than 3 seconds flat.

I was paranoid the rest of the day once I realized my mistake but I ended up fine. And it sure helped the constipation side effect for a day or so.

I was taking fish oil and changed brands, I started gettting the sharts, of course I blamed the Gleevec. Wasn't till I came off that I realised it must be something else causing it. Doh!

That too! I think it was Trey who introduced the term pukin' sharts to describe sitting in the toilet with a bucket in your lap.

Oh the good old days of Gleevac!  I'm so glad that most people do so well on G.  It just wasn't for me.
