No, but hair dye especially dark is known to cause Leukemia, if you do enough research on the net. sorry don't want to scare you but I was dying my hair ALOT in the year before I was diagnosed..

I had brown hair I think (been coloring the grey for years) after I started Gleevac it got really grey so I had it cut and colored blond. I did that for 3 years, once I went on Sprycel my hair won't hold the color it's white, I had it done professionally and it lasted less than 4 weeks, so I colored it myself, same thing it just goes back to white, so I let it grow a bit longer the way I used to wear it but it's still white. Everyone says it's a pretty color but I'm not ready for white hair, I wanted that when I was a teen (duh). I'm just thankful I have hair it could be worse. My hair is naturally wavy but when I was on Gleevac it was down right curly!

If hair dye caused cml I would have had it when I was 18! Wash that grey right out of your hair ladies. That myth that hair color causes cancer is older than I am; yeah I have C but I'm sure that it isn't from coloring, if that was the case there would be no women left on the planet. When you look better you feel better. I continue to dye my hair and I'm off the TKI and still negative so not sure about that theory.
Was an interesting show on the tv here the other night, around PCBs in plastics etc. One of the ladies had tried to reduce the amount of chemicals in her life, makeup, shampoos, using glass instead of plastic etc and the journalist had done nothing. When they did measurements of their bloods, it turned out they were both around the same level as there is so much of this stuff in our environment.

gerry, I feel that we are exposed to so many things that some people are susceptible to C and some aren't and it's probably going to get worse Were' told to recycle and not use plastic but how do we even find things that aren't even plastic, save the trees don't use paper but look at all the junk mail we get that stuff makes me crazy. Do you have a junk mail problem in Austraila dumb question I know just curious, it's such a cool country and you don't take any crap love it. Maybe someday I'll get there who knows I may come knocking at your door. I'll warn you first.
I read that article you posted and it sure does seem like menopause comes earlier and earlier now they call it peri-menopause starting around age 39, geeze my daughter my nieces their friends are all going wacko.

Hi Billie,
We have signs for our post boxes if you don't want junk mail. I'm not sure about how the other Australian states run, but where I live we have bins for everything - general rubbish, recycling and green bins for plants. One of the best places for recycling here is South Australia, they pay money for the return of bottles etc http://www.epa.sa.go...tainer_deposits This in turn has also reduced the level of PBAs from plastics etc getting into the food chain.
The other issue is we live longer now, so more chance of your cells not reproducing correctly.
With women waiting longer to have babies, earlier menopause starts to become real issue.

I am kinda jealous of you gals that still have enough hair to color and style...my fine blonde hair has been washing off my head. I have more in my brush and in the sink every day... ...and yep it's gone from a mostly blondish tone to some kinda dishwater silver....63 sucks some days! I have been toying with the idea of chopping off this thin stuff but my hair is so fine...not sure that would result in an improvement.
Gail...your hair color solution sounds like great fun! I work on a College campus and several of the faculty in their 50-60s are adding in deep purple or pink...the "kids" seem to like it and it makes a sassy statement!

I say seize the day and color while you may!

Debdoodah, are you on Gleevec or Sprycel...Gleevec is not supposed to affect your hair, only thinning..

I colored my hair once about 40 years ago with a henna rinse, and then last year with blue streaks. My neighbor has never colored his hair (that I know of - but it doesn't look touched up). Both of us got CML. I think the hair-dye theory is a big FAIL.
