Has anyone developed acne since starting Sprycel? If so, did you see a dermatologist, or use a specific soap/moisturizer that helped?

I know this is a minor side effect, but my face is turning into an adolescents with new pimples constantly popping up. Not to mention the blackheads.

Hi MLK,

I can understand how upset you must be, luckily I haven't had that problem but sprycel can cause a lot of skin issues and rashes, I'm sure there are a lot of people on the board who will give you a lot of good advice. I'm sure it's just temporary. I use only aveeno products, that's what my dermotologist recommends. My interests are more in wrinkle creams lots and lots of wrinkle cream. Gravity is evil.    Billie

I did not have acne but with the severe face flushing I developed poor skin on my face and especially my left ear.  To reduce the burning I applied Metro Gel and used Aveeno lotion with oatmeal to keep the dry patches controlled.

Developed nodular acne from Tasigna, Bosulif and Iclusig before finally seeing a dermatologist who specializes in oncology patients. She put me on low-dose Zenatane (Accutane) which completely alleviated the condition after 8 months. As background, I was diagnosed with CML in late 2006, and was on Gleevec for 6+years, before showing signs of resistance (rising pcr). Switched to Sprycel but had to discontinue only days after starting treatment (breathing problems). Switched to the other TKIs mentioned, but only went from one to another because of this nasty side effect. The nodular acne was so bad it was hard to wash my face (and hard to look at) without feeling considerable pain. Now all that is in the past. I am grateful for having gone through the Zenatane doses, although this treatment is not for everyone (there are a number of restrictions; e.g., not for pregnant women or for women who are looking to become pregnant due to potential birth defects in the fetus).

Thank you everyone for responding. I think I might go to a dermatologist and see what they can do.

Tinman  - did you have nodular acne other places than just your face?
