Yep I'm with JPD only was told to stay away from grapefruit.....I'm an extremist I even check my bath and lotion products for grapefruit extract. .....over board I know:)

Diagnosed Oct 2013 Started 600mg of Tasigna  on Nov 4th. Lowered dose a few months later to 300mg due to side affects stayed here declining PCR until March 2015 small jump from 0.0072 to 0.0083 scarred my doc into full dose of Tasigna again 600mg(been miserable since) but reached PCRU 06/15/2015(next test) and have been there ever since. Hoping to have another little one. I have the support of my doc to go off anytime, just scared to jump. might go two years PCRU but he said it wont make much of a difference. I just figured I could possibly go into a trial while preggers if I got the two years behind me.

Nov 8th 2017 went off Tasigna

Dec 1st PCRU off TKI

Jan 5th PCR Detected .0625

Feb 1st PCR Detected .7815

Added 8-6 grams Curcumin daily in Feb

March 3rd PCR Detected 3.2646 YIKES!

stopped trying for baby after February reading. will start new TKI march 16th 2017 (Sprycel)

FYI I'm not done trying for my last little one.

The main thing I would avoid is calcium pills along with the TKI drug.  Otherwise I would eat any food (not applying this to herbals).

I eat Texas Ruby Red grapefruit whenever it is in season.  Yum, yum.  If I could find Texas Ruby Red grapefruit body wash I would use it.  If I did enemas I would......well, no need to get carried away.....

Trey, Have you looked at bath and bodyworks, They have every scent possible. I'll look next time I go up there. If they have grapefruit scents you'll probably fall in love with yourself and not talk to us anymore.

Because of my vascular disease my surgeon told me I can't take anything with calcium at all. So there's another thing we can't take without talking with our doctors.

Billie, it's only a country song if you were giving yourself the grapefruit enema while your girlfriend stole your truck, ran over your dog, and shot a bad guy.

Trey,

My doctor told me not to take Algae Cal supplements within 2 hrs of taking Sprycel. Would that include not having lasagna  or drinking calcium enriched soymilk at dinner? BMS didn't know the answer and I haven't remembered to ask the onc.  Figured you probably know.

That's a good one Gail, what a predicament. Instead of a country western song we should write a Gleevac Sharts song, Every time I got them all hell would break loose phones, people knocking at the door (who always want to save us) they better stay away and save themselves.,oven timer goes off etc. I bet everybody on the board has some very interesting stories.

In Florida we saw a girl walking down the street wearing a garbage bag not a bad idea for those taking a tki especially Gleevac., if we had an accident all we would have to do is find a hose rinse ourselves off hose off the garbage bag turn it inside out and put it back on.!

Only the big calcium pills.  That would include AlgeaCal (which is a calcium pill).  I don't take calcium pills.  I eat lots of cheese to get minerals since it is absorbed far better.  As I said, I don't worry about any foods rich in calcium along with TKIs.  The issue is not TKI specific, it is most pills where absorption is an important issue.
