Attention Stoners:  I just have to share this.  I started taking medical marijuana edibles for a few months each year starting 2009.  After remember about munchies, I always stopped....

It was for sleep, since I cannot get to sleep on my own, and was tired of taking prescription meds.

Still wondering if this is what caused the CML.

Diagnosed 3/2014 WBC 28 Non detectable within 3 monthsGleevec 400 mg 5/2014 one hour after dinner really improves nausea300 mg 12/15/2016200 mg and 300 mg Gleevec 2/25/2017 (after 3 years on Gleevec) For last four months taking 300 mg per day. Last CMC showed liver enzymes elevated, went to a good Naturopath and he recommended 4 Tumeric, 10,000 mg Vitamen D, and 3 milk thistle (silymarin) daily. Also use One<p>Day Detox Dandeloin tea, and Nettle Tea and a slice of ginger every day...in two months liver tests were below normal.Janis

Don't forget Willie Nelson and he's even older.  Maybe I should move to Colorado and start using cannabis?

If MJ caused CML, I think we'd be seeing a lot more folks with it.

Dx: Sudden severe anemia detected 07/2011, followed by WBC spike. CML Dx 02/2012.

Rx: 03/2012-Gleevec400.  Reduced 02/2013 to Gleevec300 due to side effects (low blood counts).

Response: PCR-Und within 7 mo. on G400. Maintained MMR4-MMR4.5 on G300. PCR-Und since 02/2016.

Unrelated question. Was your vitamin d low? Did anyone get radio active iodine to kill thyroid? Was anyone diagnosed with Lyme before cml? I've meant to ask this a while ago?

I've never done any of the things mentioned on this thread and still have CML. I have thought many times about what could have caused mine. I'm still not convinced it wasn't extremely high levels of stress. I know others would disagree, and I may be wrong, but I still wonder.

Dx: 01 March 2011

Sprycel 100 mg per day since dx

MMR: July 2013

numerous side effects

Thankful for the gift of each new day, and try to live it to the fullest  :D

dede - I sometimes wonder about stress too.  But when you think about it - there are sooooo many stressed out people out there and CML is still very rare.  I think sometimes we just WANT there to be a cause, so we can at least blame SOMETHING.  When the truth, I believe, is just a genetic screwup.

Kitty-
Yes, low Vitamin D. My thyroid was removed. No lyme disease but long history of anemia and iron transfusions.

Dx 2/2015 BCR-ABL1 (p210) 85.2% (IS) 3/15

     22%  5/15     0.13% 6/15   PCRU attained 9/15

Initial dose Sprycel 100 mg 3/15  Lowered 80 mg 5/15   Lowered 50 mg 1/16

Note: dose lowered bc of side effects - not bc onc wanted to reduce dosage

Sprycel: Currently 50 mg per day - taken 10 pm

I tried mari, marj, mdj, marra, Pot one time in my early 30's I was having a terrible time with my nerves and my husband brought me a ma ma cigaree, smoke home for me to try, I laughed and laughed then I couldn't stop crying because I felt so guilty because I had 2 children and if they tried it I would be heartbroken. Thank God I didn't have problems like that with my kids, and they're grown adults now. When I was on Gleevac and I got so sick I wanted to try it, even now I get sick once in a while and I'd use it if it helped. I think. I have a couple pain pills left over from minor surgery, I keep them in case I get a migraine. Well I'm getting migraines again and I'm afraid to take one. Excuse the spelling I just can't spell anymore anybody else have that problem?
