It is hard to believe it has not even ben a year since my wife was diagnosed with CML. I will never forget the day my wife came home last July and told me she has cancer at only 37 years young and that we would need to go in the next day to talk to the Dr. We are lucky that we live in Seattle and have great cancer care here. Long story short is she was put on Gleevac and less then a year later she just got her last test back and in less then a year she is less then one tenth of percent and we are shooting for undectable next go around.

While there have been side effects the new normal as we call it is very livable. I would say she is back to her normal routine with only very limited changes. It truly is a great day to be alive.

Again just wanted to share the great news and provide hope to anyone out there that may be like me last July.

Thanks for sharing that. Your wife's story is similar to mine, but I'm 63 and now 14 months into gleevec 400, and still doing fine. Side-effects? Minor stuff. Puffy eyes, acid reflux, a bad itchy rash (but that stopped after 10 months), and twice a year bad night sweats. Nothing more so far.

Diagnosed in February 2014. Started Imatinib 400 in April.
2014:     3.18     0.91
2015:     0.22     0.16     0.04     0.55
2016:     0.71     0.66

(Started Imatinib 600 in April 2016)
2016:     0.42     0.13     0.45
2017:     0.17     0.06     0.10     0.06     0.34

Congratulations to you both.  Definitely happy little dance time:

Don't get too hung up on achieving undetectable - whilst it's a 'nice to have' it has very little real significance over and above the MMR which she has already achieved.  It's more common on Gleevec just to level out at a nice, deep response.

That is GREAT news, congrats! If I could figure out how to put a smiley here, I would!

Dx 2/2015 BCR-ABL1 (p210) 85.2% (IS) 3/15

Initial dose Sprycel 100 mg 3/15  Lowered 80 mg 5/15   Lowered 50 mg 1/16

Note: dose lowered bc of side effects - not bc onc wanted to reduce dosage

Dom, I read that it's safe to take Nexium on Gleevac, I was on G for three years and I took 80mg Nexium a day. 40am-40pm.
