Hello Antilogical yes thank you I was welcomed.

I am actually not sleeping well at all. I nodded and dozed at my desk so much that by lunch time it felt like I just woke up from a full nights sleep.  LOL  I am better today.  My eyes are a little puffy and my ankles were very swollen by the end of the day yesterday.  I was diagnosed at the beginning of January and have been sleeping very well since then but not now.

It does help to get up and move around so that will be my solution which I usually do anyway but when I am sleepy I just want to roll out of my chair and on to the floor so that I can get some rest.

I get very nauseous after taking it but I usually go to sleep shortly after I may need to tweak my routine.  I will get it all figured out.  All of my plans involve sleep. I just want to sleep.

MDJ,  Take your pillow and a nice big blankie to work and just roll out of your chair onto the floor, if anybody says anything just tell them they're lucky you showed up.

Watch your salt intake for the fluid retention, plus alcohol would make mine worse, mind you I still had the wine, but I knew what was coming. lol Heat was the other thing that made the fluid retention worse. Mine was around the ankles as I took the Gleevec in the morning and am seated for most of the day.

Thanks Gerry! That's goldbricking. My ankles were swollen after my first dose. I don't drink so I'm good there. I don't like the heat and it is freezing here right now.

I was wondering how to avoid the water weight gain or any for that matter. In a lot of reviews weight gain is an issue.

I have a lot of water retention issues now.  My family doc adjusted some blood pressure meds, and - while it didn't eliminate the problem - it certainly helped it.  My recommendation is to bring your family doc into the discussion.

Dx: Sudden severe anemia detected 07/2011, followed by WBC spike. CML Dx 02/2012.

Rx: 03/2012-Gleevec400.  Reduced 02/2013 to Gleevec300 due to side effects (low blood counts).

Response: PCR-Und within 7 mo. on G400. Maintained MMR4-MMR4.5 on G300. PCR-Und since 02/2016.

Will do. My family doctor is actually 2 years from becoming a blood cancer doctor I find that very helpful when dealing with her.

My specialist had be me on a fluid tablet, though we both had a laugh when he said only take it when you need to, which meant the fluid had already hit. He wasn't keen on me taking it every day, but if yours is bad, you might need to.

Salt is hidden in a lot of prepared items, so you may find yourself starting to have to check everything. I gave away eating chips etc altogether.

Exercise will help move the fluid out of the body as well.

I didn't put any weight on while on the Gleevec.

I never gained weight on Gleevac,as a matter of fact I lost weight couldn't keep anything down couldn't keep anything in, the perfect diet. Luckily it settled down after about 3 weeks. The 2 bp meds and the water pill help me with fluid retention. I did have the Gleevac Eyes, I could not control the fluid retention every morning they were different,(one up, one down, one bug eyed one slanted). I used to play with them when I was bored. I looked like a racoon Everybody else seemed to have ways to take the swelling down, not me I tried all kinds of make-up tricks all that did was make me look like a bug eyed hooker.

I took the Gleevec in the morning, so had puffy ankles by the afternoon. I had to switch from taking it in the evening as it would make my throat muscles swell with the fluid and I felt like I was choking during the night.

Billie I can't imagine (bug eyed hooker) LOL.

I was taking it as soon as I got home from work and ate something but then I would go to sleep and wake up around 12 or 1 then be in a conscious state of sleep the rest of the night.  Now I take it around 9 with food of course I still fall asleep after I take it then wake up but it is easier to go back to sleep the later I take it.  I get really agitated after I take it so I take an anxiety pill prior to taking it that seems to help.  I haven't noticed any swelling lately unless it is happening somewhere on my body that I am not aware of.

It is 11:20 am I'm at work and ready for my Teddy Bear and blanket I hope the day goes fast.  :(

Uh... I wouldn't turn around in front of the mirror, MrsDJ.  I did, and my scream almost leveled the houses in the neighborhood.  Best to cover those mirrors....

No swelling....  No swelling....

Hi MDJ,

Al is right,we don't do mirrors on this board. She only lives about 2 hours away from me. Sometimes I hear the strangest sounds..........

My eyes are getting worse daily, that is the best wrinkle remover I have tried yet. Applying make-up is a totally different story. I get the right make-up on my face getting it where It's supposed to go is a huge problem.

Rons daughter is getting married in September, I figure if I start getting ready now I just might make it in time.

I could use some advice ladies, what does the step-mother wear to the wedding? I met Rons ex once for about 30 seconds and she seems nice and he has a wonderful family,  AL they live in Ambridge  so I'll really be close to you. Thats where Ron was born and raised. HELP ME!!!!!!

Most step mothers wear leather and chains to weddings.  Lots of makeup. . go for the goth look, or the raccoon-eyed look.  It's very hip these days.  Be sure to take pictures and post them here.

I'm still struggling with the fact that Billie's inlaws live in Ambridge, the fictional village setting of the world's longest running soap opera (on BBC Radio since 1950).  Given that I'll long suspected Billie doesn't inhabit the same planet as the rest of us that probably does make sense after all.

+1 for the goth look.

I vote for pure goth.  Nothing but black.  And be sure you cry so the mascara runs.
