For those that had huge spleens at diagnoses how long did it take to heal? I am 6 weeks since diagnoses and my spleen which after the first week felt great is starting to become uncomfortable again. Last week my blood numbers were all good and my doctor said he could not feel the spleen. Why is the pain returning? I plan to call the doctor tomorrow just wanted other opinions. Maybe it isn't the spleen but it sure feels like it.

The enlargement causes spleen damage which must heal.  It is not simply a matter of returning to regular size.  The healing takes time, probably several months.

I felt discomfort for a long (many months) time after diagnosed, even though it shrank into place within 6 weeks or so.

it takes some time. my big spleen returned to normal size in 8 weeks (i think. it was near normal in week 6. does anyone took longer than me to get the spleen back to normal?), i think. but the discomfort took at least one more month

Last CMC showed liver enzymes elevated, went to a good Naturopath and he recommended 4 Tumeric, 10,000 mg Vitamen D, and 3 milk thistle (silymarin) daily. Also use One<p>Day Detox Dandeloin tea, and Nettle Tea and a slice of ginger every day...in two months liver tests were below normal.Janis

Wow I am obviously impatient. I will tough it out. It is just odd that it stopped hurting for a couple weeks and then came back. Mine was a particularly bad case. It was huge and parts of it had died according to the emergency room doc. But all my hematologists insist it will heal just fine.
