Hi all, I'm overseas at the moment (UK) and it's the middle of the night. I'm having a very severe bout of diarrhoea, I thought at first it was just my normal gleevec reaction to certain foods, but it turns out I've been up all night and have bad at least 20 bouts of diarrhoea so far. I am struggling to replace the fluid I am losing, I imagine I have more to lose because of the fluid retention though. Possibly good poisoning or gastro from some other source.

Has anyone been through this after diagnosis - did you see a doctor straight away? I am loathe to go to the emergency at this hour, but I am having trouble working out how serious this actually is. It's pretty frightening.

Thanks, Pin xx

Trust your instincts if you feel that unwell go to the ER. Better safe than sorry.
I would give same advice to someone who didn't have cml.
Assuming you don't have fever but if you do then don't wait at all.

Good luck hope you feel better.

Thanks Lucky - I ended up going, rheu hve out me on a drip and they are running some tests on me, I guess to rule some things out. Just a bit hard being in a hospital in another country. We all do enough of this at home :(

Hang in there @Pin!  I have traveled to the UK quite a bit and you're in good hands with their care team.  I had similar symptoms a couple of years ago while traveling (all-night sharts + vomiting!) and it turned out to be a nasty stomach bug that ran its course during my trip.  I would've recovered much quicker if I had gone to the ER though, because the drip is an efficient way to get fluids back in the system.  You made the right decision.

Thinking of you!

Hi Pin,

Hope you're feeling better soon. Good thing with the UK is we have a reciprocal arrangement with them for health care.

Thanks guys, it was pretty awful to say the least! Awful for anyone I guess, but I was feeling a bit scared being away from home. My neutrophils count was at 5.76 (6.4 WBC). That's a high (normally in the 2s) for me, but normal for others! Definitely had some kind of tummy bug. Hopefully on the mend now. Thanks for support xxx
