My doctor referred me to an onocologist almost two weeks ago because my wbc has gradually gone up since DEC. The onocologist said well let's cast a net and see. They did several tests. My follow up appt. Is next Tues. But I can read my results online and yesterday this popped up. It said the Jak2 mutation, plasma results are Jack 2 mutation, QN, plasma.

Then this test BCR-ABL FISH results BCR\ABL (Q,LC,CP,etc.)

Does anyone know what this mean? I have googled the results and I am quite scared. I don't know how I am going to be able to wait until Tues.

Are there any numbers on the results? These appear to be names of tests, which would make sense since he said he was "casting a wide net". You need to know what the results are to know what they mean. When you say your WBC has gradually gone up, what are we talking about, what was your last WBC? What about the rest of your CBC counts?

I have noticed that with most of the online test posting that health facilities do on programs like "my chart" or something similar DO NOT report complicated tests like this. All this seems to be is saying that the results for the tests at the bottom are ordered and that the results are available to your oncologist. Just talk to him on Tuesday. These results tell you nothing. If you had a JAK 2 or BCR ABL, there would be numbers involved that would go more in depth. Don't fret, this tells you nothing.

And honestly, your CBC looks pretty good and it's great that they are having you checked up on. This is a very conservative approach and they are doing right by you.

Call them on Monday and ask them what the results are.  I get my hem/onc's office to fax the results to me, but some doctor's offices won't fax results due to privacy laws.

I'm not a dr but those blood counts would not be typical for someone diagnosed with CML. When I was diagnosed with cml my white blood count was 65k. Your white count is elevated but not nearly in the range of someone with blood cancer. Your other counts also look pretty good. If this were cml you be catching it unbelievably early. I would be surprised. Wait until you speak with dr but I would not panic at this point. If by some crazy stroke of bad luck this were cml, the good news is that you would be catching it very early and there are good effective treatments for cml. I'm 4+ year survivor. Most people do not die from cml anymore.
Hang in there.

Good luck.

I believe you are mis-reading your results.  The JAK2 test was done, but the result does NOT say it was positive.  The BCR-ABL also does not indicate it was positive.  Either the results for these tests are not provided, or they were both negative.  I would assume both were negative.  The letters after the results show HOW they were done, not results.  (QN = quantitative JAK2 test, Plasma shows it was blood instead of marrow, Q = quantitative PCR, LC = Lightcycler PCR machine)

Your WBC is just above normal levels, and has climbed slowly.  That would not suggest leukemia or lymphoma.  More likely some low level issue.

All of your blood work indicates some low level issue.  This could be anything from severe allergies to a viral, fungal, or bacterial issue.  This would be the more likely scenario for you than an L&L disease.

Thanks everyone. You have made me feel much better. I am nauseated every single day, diarrhea most every day. Weak and tired feeling. I had my gal bladder out in April. I thought you were supposed to feel better after that, but I haven't been. My liver is enlarged fatty liver as well. I am a 48 female. When my doctor referred me to an onocologist it sort of freaked me out. Then the other day those results were posted. But now my mind at least feels better. Thank you.
