My recent CBC came back OK except slightly elevated Lymphocyte and SGPT.

HB - 13.7
TC - 6500
Neutrophils - 40%
Lymphocytes - 46%
Eosinophils - -04%
RBC - 4.23
Platelets - 177000
SGPT - 66 SGOT normal

My Onc sees anything unusual in my report . He says I am doing great. My gastro says I have put on some extra kg in recent months and he wants me to reduce it to bring down the SGPT to normal range. He believes that higher SGPT can cause elevated Lymphocytes some times....any comments

Have a great day

Thomas

Your SGPT (same as ALT) is just a little high.  It would not cause high lymphocytes, but an underlying condition that raises the ALT/SGPT could possibly also raise lymphocyte counts if it is viral.  If you had any muscle injury lately, that would raise ALT/SGPT.  The TKI drugs can cause high ALT/SGPT by themselves.  Yours are not high enough to cause concern, but should be monitored in future tests.

Neutrophil and lymphocyte percentages change constantly, and should not normally be used to draw conclusions.  Absolute numbers are better indicators.  So I do not see any issue with your lymphocytes based on this information.  Many CML patients have high lymphocyte percentages because the neutrophil percentage is low because of the CML TKI drug treatment.

Thanks Trey. I am having elevated SGPT ( always between 55-80) for last 14 years. I also have high bilirubin ( between 1.6 to 2.8 ) . After n numbers of scans , blood tests , endoscopy and colonoscopy , I am told that I am having Gilbert syndrome and wheat allergy. I do not how these conditions are going to get affected by Gleevic. Yes I need to keep an eye on my liver.

Do I need to take any liver supplements ?

Hi, thomas,

I think it's normal to have elevated lymphocytes. Mine are about 50% of the wbc because i'm hovering around 1500 neutrophils. you're doing great.

Cheers,

Lucas

TKK,

Some people's "normal" is different than the standard.  It does not mean there is an issue to fix.

Others might give experience with liver supplements.  But generally eating well, maybe a general supplement, and exercise are best for good overall health.
