Hi everyone,

I have been taking Tasigna since diagnosed Sept 2011. After the initial period of annoying side effects, one of which was a skin rash and exteme itchiness, things settled down. I really can't complain too much- just fatigue at times. But suddenly, in the last 3 months I have developed 3 squamous cell carcinomas - 2 on my legs and one on my eyelid. Never had anything like this before, and not a sun worshipper! Anyone else have a similar experience?

Thanks so much!

There are certainly unknowns about these drugs, and they do have skin side effects.  But Tasigna is being studied as a potential treatment for squamous cell carcinomas.

I would say that Tasigna probably makes the skin more sensitive to the effects of the sun, rather than having a direct cause and effect.

I saw a dermatologist when I was having some skin issues, he was pretty adamant about sun protection while I was on Gleevec. I was there about something else the Gleevec was doing to my skin. LOL
