I have been on Gleevec for last 4 months. My 3 months PCR is 0.860 on IS. My WBC is constantly around 7300 for last 3 months and platlet is about 175000 . My CML friend told me That having WBC above 5000 while on gleevec is not a good thing . My HB is 14 and RBC is 4.6.

Appreciate your comments

Thomas

Your friend is dead wrong. Get expert opinions, not from friends. Regards, Frank

Your WBC is normal.  Normal is good.  You cannot compare yourself to others since you were diagnosed so early so your normal blood cell function was never disrupted by the CML.  Most people were not diagnosed so early, and the CML disrupted the normal blood cell making process, and it takes years for them to recover from that disruption.

Hi Thomas,

At my lab the normal range for WBC goes from 3,400 to 10,800. Your WBC is perfect.
