Hi;  We have talked about knee replacement, but I am supposed to start shots of Orthovisc because the doctor does not want to take a chance on me having a Avian source injection from birds or chickens.  I know some are made up from the comb of the rooster.  The Orthovisc is derived from bacterial cells, and that makes me question that as well as a Avian source injection.

Has anyone had Synvisc or Orthovisc shots?  I cannot seem to find information on it causing interference with Leukemia or TKI treatment.

I have about had it with all these things popping up constantly, and just do not want any more problems.

Thanks

Susan

Both are Hyaluronan, which although the body makes it naturally, these shots are not proven to work very well for arthritis, and they can worsen TKI side effects, especially dry skin scaling issues.  It can also cause uncontrolled cell growth (remind you of anything?).  Personally, I would stay away from them if taking TKI drugs.
