Holy cow, Lucky, it looks like ya'll have a bigger bowl of alphabet soup than we do.  I'm embarrassed to admit that you lost me at "hello."  (Jerry McGuire reference if you're the one person who's been able to avoid knowing that.)  It all becomes mumbo jumbo to me after awhile.  But I do appreciate the attempt to educate me.  Not many people see me as worth the effort.

Although I must say I understood the conclusion.  Like being in a good haunted house, I guess.  You're confused but then you get a whiff of fresh air and the world makes sense again

I know this is a completely inept and inadequate description but my preacher's mind speaks in allegories.  I've always thought of CML as holding the barbarians at the gate while AML is when the little buggers have gotten loose and are pillaging and other things often associated with pillaging inside the fort.  So, hold the gate, my friend.

Alex,

All else I can recommend is that you listen to whoever recommends what with an open mind.  You might get a few different recommendations when all the dust settles.  I do believe our gut will give us the right decision when we've processed all the information.  We just need to be sure we get all of that information into the hopper.

You'll do the right thing when the time comes.  In the end, that's the only thing that matters.

I thank all of you for letting me visit.

Blessings

Tex,

It's really kind of funny how caught up you can get in this stuff.  When I wrote that response and reread it, it sounded perfectly normal to me, like common knowledge.  After seeing your response and then rereading it today I started laughing and thinking there are only two kinds of people who would look at what I wrote as "common knowledge".  The academics (i.e. doctors and scientists) and the people's whos lives depend on this BS.  No one else would care about the subtle differences between a 3 and a 4.5 log reduction on a polymerase chair reaction molecular test.

Technical mumbo jumbo aside, your analogy is pretty accurate.  Keep it at bay as long as you can.  CML and AML are like evil cousins.  Prior to the medical advances of the last 10-15 years I would say they were probably equally deadly, AML did it fast, CML took you out slow.  The outlook for CML is a lot better today if you respond well to the treatment and most do, if you're one of the unfortunate ones that it does not respond well, things get more challenging and can ultimately wide up being just like an acute form of leukemia.

I've heard people say life is a terminal condition, so I guess the strategy is the same.  Stay in it as long as you can, do as much as you can, and try your best to enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting...
