Has anyone that is on Gleevec seen their Kidney level rise, and if so, what has your doctor done about it? Mine seem to be on the rise after 5 years on Gleevec and my doctor is playing the wait and see game. I just want to see if anyone else is experiencing kidney issues due to their meds.

Hi:  I have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease due to my GFR rate being in the high range.  Mine fluctuates, and its been this way for many years well being on Gleevec.  I have found that it seems to be a dehydration problem also with me, as I do not drink enough fluids.  I just went Wednesday for my blood work, and as soon as I get my results this coming week I will let you know how my kidney functions are going.

I try to drink more water, but sometimes its a big effort for me.  Sometimes my BUN/Creatnine is normal, but the GFR is never in the normal range.

Susan
