Just my copy of "The Philadelphia Chromosome" by Jessica Wapner. It looks very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading it. Looks like Emperor of All Maladies, but specifically focused on CML.

I don't have much time to read so it will take me some time to get through it. I have a flight in June, which is when I usually get through major reading so I assume I will finish it by then. So far it is very interesting, the opening alone will put in perspective our disease and where we are today vs where we were 15 years ago. The opening story about the guy describing to Druker's nurse about how the first few days on Gleevec were really bad with stomach pains that were "the worst thing you could imagine" and the nurse thinking he has no idea how bad it could be, followed by a section on what exactly happens through blast crisis. It was sobering to read, it and puts side effects in perspective.....

Ooh, not sure I want to know! I've always said I'm not afraid of dying, I'm just afraid of the process of dying with this disease. You've just confirmed my worst fears! (Other than a poisonous snake crawling up my jeans - but we don't want to go there).

Bishop68,
The book is out it is just that amazon doesn't stock them so they say delivery in 2-3 weeks. I didn't catch that until I had ordered. I cancelled the order and re-ordered from one of their vendors who have it in stock. Should get it late this week or early next.
