The 11th of April 1 year ago today, was the day they confirmed i had CML, and the day i started 400mg Gleevec.

Been a turbulent year, but things seem to be settling down (knock on wood)

Had my 4th, and hopefully my last BMB today, in the sternum, onc was amazing, took him around 3 minutes and it was over (The one i had in my hipbone took around 20) if i ever need another BMB, i will definitely ask for this guy again. I cant do pushups today, but at least i can walk

CBC was fine

HGB: 14.2

WBC: 5

ANC: 2.6

Platelets: 230

Now the waiting for the PCR results starts! Should take around 10 days or so, will post them when i get them. (Last one was 0.01)

To all of you on this forum: Thank you for your amazing support and for making me feel so welcome!

Now, if only that Diazepam i got today would wear off, id be happy cause it makes me so damn tired

May this be the first of many to come!  You have done very well in one year and you have a great attitude which I think goes a long way towards helping you along.  You are nice addition to this community - as we say, we're sorry you have to be here, but if you have to be then we're glad to have you.  Continued luck and good health!!!!

P.S. I've grown pretty fond of Diazepam

Same here, every since thirteen years ago when I pulled my first muscle, it helped.  I really could use some now, because I am still having problems with my muscles.

I had my bmb a week ago today, and I have been taking real easy. Yesterday I was getting sticky candy off my nightstand that one of my grandkids left, and do not ask me but somehow I accidentally swatted my backside(hipbone) where I had my bmb and I thought I was just going to pass out, I was trying to get ready to start doing and going out, but that reality made me continue to take it easy.

Thank you for your kind words CallMeLuckey!

Yeah, Diazepam works well for me before a BMB, i feel very relaxed and tend to talk a lot (A lot more than i usually do)

Sorry to hear that mariebow, the one i had before this one was also quite rough. I had trouble walking for a few days

Ive had my 4 mandatory BMB`s now (dx, 3months, 6months and 12months), so hopefully i wont need to do any more now.

Hi Teddy:  Congratulations on getting to where you are, and every year ahead will just be one more significant point you have reached toward kicking Cancer's Butt.  So glad you feel so welcome also.  I know when I found the group it was amazing for me too.  Our loved ones, friends, and even our doctors do not know what we really go through if they have never had CML. When we talk to each other here, and get some great advice and support from someone who lives this everyday like we do it has to make you feel good.  Your doing good, and you will continue on that track I am sure.Hopefully at this point you should not have to have anymore BMB, and they can just check you through your PCR Test.  Celebrate!!!

Susan

Susan.

I remember coming to these forums and you welcomed me, saying you had been on Gleevec for 10 years. That was very inspirational for me and i remember thinking, wow, its actually possible to live a long and "normal" life on these drugs, and i was very relieved

Thank you!

Teddy

Teddy,

Glad to hear about your excellent results.  I also got my one year PCR blood drawn couple days ago.  Will know the results in about 10 days.

Hi: Teddy:  Yes the time has gone by so quickly.  This coming October will be 13 years of Gleevec, and in Dec. it will be 15 years living with CML.  I still cannot believe it when I think back to the very beginning of what I went through with no TKI drugs available yet.  I hope that helps everyone, who might need to switch to a different drug at some point.  At least we know there are choices still available.

I am always glad to share my experience with anyone, especially all our newcomers who have no idea what lays ahead for their future.

Susan

Thanks Dan, if i can help others by sharing my journey, i will

You were one of my inspirations of hope when i got first diagnosed, seeing you were doing so well on Gleevec, and was leading a healthy lifestyle really inspired me!

Hope your tinnitus is better, mine comes and goes a bit, wishing you all the best!!

I am really happy to hear that, Teddy!  My 2 year PCR result comes back Monday, but I feel great and am back to running and biking hard on a regular basis, so I continue to be optimistic.  No reason not to be!  Keep up the healthy lifestyle as well ...

Hi Teddy,

Congratulations, I'm sure your tests will turn out fine. I can't believe it"s been a whole year already. You have done great, and you have helped many others also. But remember, just because you have been here a whole year, doesn't mean I'm a year older.    Take Care Billie
