I had a thyroid panel run last week and all of my test came back in the normal range except for T4. Normal range is between 4.5 and 10.9 and mine was at 13.00.  I was wondering if Sprycel could be the culprit? They want me to visit with an endocrinologist next week.

Thanks,

Mayra

There are several medications which can raise T4.  See list:

Sprycel may cause reduced T4 uptake, which could possibly report as high T4 on the test.

There is a definite relationship between TKIs and thyroid uptake and TSH.  My Mrs spent a lot of time trying to get oncs and endocrine guys to work together, eventually our gp started refereeing the whole mess.  She went from an ordinary hypothyroid sufferer that had years of experience dealing with it to a mess literally overnight when she started Gleevec.  Go and see the endocrine guys and get it looked at, the sooner you get it going right the better.

Thanks for the comments.  I will do that! Better to get treated early than have it escalate.

I take 100 mg Sprycel.

I have a TSH w/reflex to FT4 value of 8.3, and Free T4 value of 1.2.  So my TSH is high but my Free T4 is in range.

dx cml 7/2012; 100 mg sprycel; splenectomy 9/2012; reached prcu 10/2013; dx smoldering myeloma 1/2015; 80 mg sprycel 12/2015; 50 mg sprycel 7/13/16; discontinued sprycel 11/15/16
