Hello.

A great subject for a Saturday morning, diarrhea.

I took my 4x100mg pills of Gleevec as usual this morning, but around 15 minutes after i took it, i had to run to the bathroom where i had a case of diarrhea.

After around 1 hour i noticed how great i was feeling, and i didnt have that "regular" fuzzy gleevec feeling.

So, i took another 2x100mg pills just to be safe, does this sound like the right thing to do in a case like this?

Have a great weekend.

Teddy.

Teddy,

If I had had a vicious case of vomiting perhaps I would have taken another full dose, but, if I didn't find 4 totally undigested Gleevec pills in my stool, I would have left well enough alone for one day.  : )

Hey Pat.

Luckily I didnt look for traces of pills in my stools

Yeah, i guess it shouldnt be a problem, but i dont want to give the cml any chance of coming back.

Worst case i only get 200mg dose today, best case i get 600mg, but i highly doubt that, given that i feel pretty damn good today. (Even after a bottle of wine yesterday)

Teddy,

I have been on 400mg of Gleevec for little over a year now. Thats been my routine every morning. I eat breakfast then take the G and hid to the bathroom and get cleaned out. I never have seen the pills in it, I don't know if they float thou.... lol A couple of hours later I am light headed and ready for another meal.

Hi: Are you on 400mg a day, but taking 4/100mg pills?  If that is the case then maybe you should take 2/100mg pills in the morning with a full breakfast first which might help diarrhea or anything else.  Then take the other 2/100mg pills with your dinner.  How long have you been on Gleevec?  I am on it 12 years, and in the beginning I had the nausea if I did not eat a full meal before taking my pill.  It still happens to me if I do not eat enough food occasionally. I did not experience any bowel problems that I can remember.

Maybe I did not follow your post correctly, but that is how I understood it.

Hey Floa7, hehe, yeah, usually thats my routine as well, but this time, well, it was mostly "water" that came out (what a dreaful subject), and i didnt get my regular Gleevec feeling which i have had every day since i started taking these pills.

Susan: Indeed taking 4x100mg for easier swallowing.

I have thought about splitting dosage, but i think this is the first time i have had stomach issues right after taking the pills. I blame it on the wine, and the fact that i drank a lot of more water than i usually do when taking the pills (almost tripple the normal amount)

Seems to be working well today at least
