Hi all
Long time since I have posted but I have a ponder. I have been on Glivec since Jan 2006 and have - to be honest had a pretty easy time of it. However this last few days I have had a bad case of multiple side effects - unknown for the last 7 years - I have has bone pain, sickness, major water retention, itchy skin all since I started my latest issue of Glivec. Has anybody else had this?

I have gotten most of those since diagnosis but I guess it's possible that side effects can just come out of nowhere sometimes. Mine come and go, so maybe yours is just on a longer 'cycle'?
It might be worth getting a check up to make sure that everything's ok otherwise just in case?
Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).
Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.
2017: <0.01, <0.01, 0.005 (200mg Glivec, Adelaide) <0.01, 0.001 (new test sensitivity)
2016: <0.01, <0.01, PCRU, 0.002 (Adelaide)
2015: <0.01, <0.01, <0.01, 0.013
2014: PCRU, <0.01, <0.01, <0.01, <0.01
2013: 0.01, 0.014, 0.016, 0.026, 0.041, <0.01, <0.01

Wow - it almost sounds like what I went through when I first started taking Gleevec. I had all of those side effects, and more. Fortunately, most of the side effects abated, and I'm just wrestling with a few of them now.
Question: Did you change any of your other medications recently?

Dx: Sudden severe anemia detected 07/2011, followed by WBC spike. CML Dx 02/2012.
Rx: 03/2012-Gleevec400. Reduced 02/2013 to Gleevec300 due to side effects (low blood counts).
Response: PCR-Und within 7 mo. on G400. Maintained MMR4-MMR4.5 on G300. PCR-Und since 02/2016.

I wonder if you have developed an intollerance to Gleevec or an allergy. Sometimes that happens. Best thing to do is go into your doctor and have your doctor check it out.

It begs the question if there is something wrong with that batch. Perhaps it is more potent than it should be? It would seem strange to suddenly develop these issues after all these years. I would look first to the batch and then to other causes. You should certainly discuss with Dr.

Lucky, I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes, I joke that they must not have stirred the Gleevec mixture very well because I can go a couple of weeks without side effects and then WHAM and I am really suffering.

It could be related to a change in hormones or a low level virus or infection. You would need several weeks of continuous symptoms to relate it to the TKI drug after such a long time.
