Happy New Year everybody

I have not been on the boards for a while, been real busy.  I wanted to run a few questions by soem of the people that have been dealing with CML for a while.  Brief History - I was diagnosed in 2008 @ age of 44.  I responded very well to Gleevec but had a lot of Side Effect Issues, These have mostly been resolved or at least able to be managed well, after my dose was dropped to 300 mgs (almost two years now.)  I have been dealing with some salivary gland issues that have been very painful.  There are no stones, however, these glands are  inflamed and swells badly from time to time etc.  I also feel like I have a lump in the back of my throat.    I have been to two different Ear Nose and Throat Specialists, seen my primary care physician, Oncologist etc.  One of the flare ups was so bad I needed to go on a two week cycle of prednisone.  I have been dealing with this since last April.  I did get a CT scan and it did not show abnormalities in my Parotid gland, but it did show some rather enlarged lymph nodes in the cervical area.  I am scheduled to get some of these biopsied.  The biggest lymph nodes were on the opposite side of my face from where the salivary gland issues have been occurring.,  Now in addition to the Parotid gland, I am starting to have some difficulty/pain in the submandibular region. I wonder if one or more lymph nodes are increasing in size that they may restrict the effectiveness of the ducts.  (At any rate something is preventing these glands from working properly.  This is not happening ALL of the time but the flare ups are now usually a few days apart last for 4 or five days only to return again in a few days

Just curious to hear if anyone out there has had either salivary gland issues and/or lymph nodes that are increasing in size.  I think I read somewhere they can swell up from inflammation,  I appreciate any feed back as I am real interested in getting some ideas on discussing this with my docs.

Tom
