Hi everyone,

I just got the call from my doctor with my three month test results.  I've been on 400 mg Gleevec since August 1, 2012, and I was diagnosed in late July 2012.

FISH went from 97% to 71%.

PCR was about a 0.5 log reduction [I don't remember my exact PCR numbers at diagnosis, the labs are at home].

I achieved a complete hematological response within 3 weeks on Gleevec (my WBC started at 140 -- now about 6).

I was hoping for a better response, but the doctor seems satisfied with my progress.  I'm having little to no Gleevec side effects, so I'm hoping to stay on this medication if possible.  I did have anemia for the past few months, but it has mostly disappeared as of this last test [the doctor attributed it to the hydroxyurea I took for a week pre-Gleevec].

Is this a fairly normal/average result?  Thoughts?

Diagnosed with CML in July 2012 (33 years old)

MMR since March 2015; E453K mutation

600mg Gleevec

It is a response, but maybe just "fair" so far.  Most Oncs would give it another few months.  You could discuss having another FISH done in six weeks and then discuss a drug switch.  But a drug switch is always an option, even if there is not a compelling reason.
