Had 20/20 ph+ metaphases at dx, and at 3 months of Gleevec it was now at 1/20, the onc was very pleased.

Is ccyr when you reach 0/20? I always read about % fish etc, but i havent read a lot on metaphases so could someone please explain that result for me.

I didnt get the results until today, 3 months after the test, jeez.

Other than that today`s blood looked good, hbg up from 12,9 to 13.5, platelets up from 160 to 200 and wbc at 6, with a very good ANC.

Anyway, had my 6month bmb and pcr, and i must say i preferred to get the test done on my sternum as opposed of today where it was taken from my hip bone. Less pain, and faster, but very "IN YOUR FACE" which of course is a downside, but still, i will ask for the sternum "guy" the next time on my 12 month checkup.

Anyway, is 1/20 ph+ metaphases at 3 months a good response?

(Still a bit woozy from the valium)

Teddy.

Here is a good summary on Metaphase in cell division: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metaphase

Metaphase is that part of the cell division cycle that enables good visualization of the chromosomes.

When your FISH gets to zero, you will be at complete cytogenetic remission, a major milestone (CCyR). 1/20 at 3 months is an excellent response. There is a great chance that your next test will be zero at the rate your going.

Diagnosed 11 May 2011 (100% FiSH, 155% PCR)

with b2a2 BCR-ABL fusion transcript coding for the 210kDa BCR-ABL protein

Sprycel: 20 mg per day - taken at lights out with Quercetin and/or Magnesium Taurate

6-8 grams Curcumin C3 complex.

2015 PCR: < 0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

2016 PCR: < 0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

March        2017 PCR:     0.01% (M.D. Anderson scale)

June          2017 PCR:     "undetected"

September 2017 PCR:     "undetected"

1 of 20 is essentially CCyR.  Technically it is 0/20, but there is a margin of error with false positive.  All in all an excellent response for 3 months.
