Does anyone know if it is safe to get a flu shot while on Tasigna?  I asked my Dr.and he wasn't sure. Told me to contact Novartis. Thought I would ask here first. Trying to reach them is hard sometimes.

Thanks

Hi Kimw

I've just been on nilotinib (Tasigna) for about 6 weeks but my haematologist advised flu shot provided my bloods were ok.  I'm having it on Saturday.

Kimw

I am on Tasigna for about six months.  My Dr said it is OK to have flu shot and pneumonia shot (for people over 65).  I got both last week.

My Onc. just about insisted on me getting a flu shot Just make sure it's the dead vaccine (injected) and not the live (nasal spray).

I have cancer but it doesn't have me

Thank you everyone.  I contacted Novartis this morning and they could not give me an answer.  They put it back on my Dr..  Gave me a number to a medical group for him (not me) to call for help.  That's BS.  Sometimes I think this board knows more about our disease and treatments than the so-called experts.

Thanks,

Kim

Hi, kimw,

I don't think it's that Novartis doesn't know, but that their lawyers won't let them answer!
