How long of a break have folks taken between medication switching?

My Onc did not seam to have an answer but said I could stop taking Gleevec ASAP. He was probably assuming that I would get the Syprcel within a few days or so.

Thanks in advance for your input.

i did not take a break.  The reason I discontinued Sprycel eventually was pleural effusion, but that had nothing to do with switching to Sprycel

without a break.

After discontinuing Sprycel because of the PE, I was actually off TKIs for about 4 weeks while the PE was treated and the order for Tasigna was

processed and delivered.

What is the reason you are switching?

Chris

My response with Gleevec was to slow.

How long had you taken Sprycel before you had PE?

I took five days off when I switched. I don't know if taking a break was the reason, but I only got the dreaded Sprycel headaches for the first couple of days.

Good luck--I have been much happier on Sprycel.

I began Spycel immediately without a break and developed PE within a few weeks. I was miserable the whole time I was on Sprycel, and am doing much better on Tasigna.

What is pleural effusion?

I have been on Sprycel since Aug 6th ,(never on any other med) had a headache the first day but then was feeling great, until recently.   I am back to feeling totally fatigued and have been getting headaches.  But they go away and aren't constant.  I was thinkning they might be allergy headaches as the seasons are changeing here in CT.

I also have had some blurred vision in left eye in am.  have eye dr. appt next week.

Anyone have eye problems?

I plan on calling doc. on Monday.
