Congrats!  If I recall, you are in the Middle East (Egypt?), and you were worried about access to another drug. So does that mean you got it via government healthcare or via compassionate use from the drug company?

Forgive me if I garbled the facts. My memory is only so good, so I concede I might have mixed your story up with others. I'm getting old, what can I say?  Other than I am happy to have TKIs so I CAN grow old!

That's great news! I take G so not sure about the side effects of Sprycel for you.

Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).

Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.

Mabdou,

Glad you got your Sprycel.  I will be anxiously awaiting to hear how your Journey goes.

Hopefully you will reach PCRU with few side effects and if proves to be to powerful, I'm sure your oncologist will adjust your dosage accordingly.

I have been on Gleevec for 7 years so I don't have first hand knowledge of Sprycel.

Warm Regards. PamSouth

Good news!  I've been on Sprycel for 18 months and have had great results.  The only serious side effect has been fluid build up in my lungs. I started at 100mg, now on 40.  Good luck and I hope you do well.

Hi:  Glad to see you got the help you needed.  So many of us are struggling to pay for our meds.  I have been on Gleevec for 12 years, so  I cannot help you with regard to side effects of Sprycel.  We have a lot of people on Sprycel who are doing very well, so just ask questions if you should have any problem. Someone will be here to help.

Susan

The treatment is a Thoracentesis which is done by a large needle in your back to remove the fluid.  Risk are infection and lung puncture.  I have done fine both times.  I've been told that doing this procedure to many times could cause scare tissue.  Hopefully you will not have this problem.  It does not happen to all Sprycel patients.  It also didn't happen until after 1 year on Sprycel.  I'm praying for you!

Why you don't switch to TASIGNA or SRYCEl still  the right option ?

I had no response to G, had negative EKG with Tasigna and was put on 170mg day two years ago.  I had limited side effects bone pain being the worst.  After two years of not hitting PCR my Dr just increased

Me to 200 mg per day!  I now take an Allegra  that eliminates bone pain every day with my sprycel and I take 10mg of lasix two or three times a day to help with the water.  I am a mother of four and work full time, I love sprycel!!  Finally saw a 0 in my PCR results!  Hoping for a few more next month!  Best of luck to you!!!
