I m starting to get bad knee pain. It started with my left hip and then knee. Now I limp when I walk, im hoping it will go away soon. I think Ive read on here before about others having something similair. I will read about side effects  and am thankful I don't have that side effect then before ya know it, its there. I guess I shouldn't speak so soon, or assume it won't happen to me.etc.karma.

Sorry, I would like to know if anyone has any advice or if this is common. I try to move on but things keep happening.

Hi Kelly:  Are you saying you think the hip and knee pain is from your TKI drug? I have knee and leg pain from Arthritis and Sciatica.   My left knee is Arthritis, and my right leg is from Sciatica pain that goes down the back of the leg due to having a bad back. When I get this pain it makes my hip hurt also.  Do you have anything like that?

I do not think this is related to your CML, but I do get a lot of joint pains on and off which could be related to my CML and TKI drug.

I don't know what it is. I think it's not from scaitica because I don't feel the whole nerve pain running down my leg. It was just in my hip on and off, then knee, now my knee is pretty bad most f the day. It started at night while sleeping on that side. I just heard about joint pain on here and thought maybe thats whats going on. I don't know what it could be?

Hi Kelly:  Hope you start to feel better.  It does sound like you did something to the knee.  Maybe you twisted it being you said you were laying on that side.  Its amazing at the things we can do to ourselves just by moving or sleeping the wrong way.  If your favoring the knee, sometimes the pain can radiate to the hip.  If you do not get relief soon, then ask your doctor what it could be.  Just don't worry about anything related to your CML.  We all get all kinds of aches and pains with that too.  I am on Gleevec, and I get constant leg and foot cramps.

Muscle and joint pain are known to happen, I have trouble with this.  I've also noticed that I am more susceptible to muscle injury and slower to heal.  So you may have twisted it the wrong way, perhaps something that would not have bothered you much in the past and probably would have only bothered you for a day or two, now becomes something that lingers and aches for a period of time.

I like Callmelucky has the same hip joint pain, and I started having this pain about two years ago, I always walked for exercise but since my knee joint hurt, I do not get to walk anymore, because I start limping real bad, and have to have someone come to get me.  and I have elbow joint pain, that started last year and it just start letting up late this year, and I also have knee pain.  Someone said that that was the leukemic cells crowding out the normal white cells, and you know I just started with all these joint pain about two years or go with the hip, one year with the elbow and have had problems off and on for a few years with the knee.  Now I have pain in my muscles up above my ribs when I injured my ribs this past April. I also walk with a pronunced limp.

yes i am on tasigna for a year now and pain in the knee 's and muscle's feel weak yes  .... hay if the meds work and we can get up every day f--ked be happy its hard beleave me i know..i am scared every day think about it every day ......look in to the people's eyes that love you thank God try to be happy more  every day....i am alone well that is just the way it is in my  life wright now...Be happy and most of all thank GOD he is so good to us.........

Thank you everyone, I just wasn't sure if it was just something I am just going to have to deal with of if I needed a knee replacement or something. It sounds like something that is common for cml. Is there anything to take to help? I do have to remmember not to complain and just be thankful there are tki to take. The aches and pains are a small compared to what it could be like without medicine.      I always appreciate everyones kindness and taking time to answer and respond to my concerns, just that alone makes me feel better. You can always take anti-inflamatory like Ibuprofen, but eventually you may fid it wears on your stomach, I pretty much can't take them anymore without getting a really bad stomach ache.  The hip might be a little tougher, but in general compression can tend to help a lot.  You can wrap the knee or pick up one of those neoprene knee braces at CVS.  That can be quite helpful for flare ups.  With the hip you could pick up at sporting goods store a pair of compression shorts and see if that helps at all.  Warm baths and topical pain relief like Icy-Hot can also provide some relief.

Hope you feel better soon.  For the most part I find that these things tend to cycle, they may hang around longer than I would like but they do seem to go away eventually - usually just in time for something new to come along
