At first I made the decision to go up to 600mg Gleevec.....but now I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice.  I'm just so confused on what I should do.  The gleevec is working...just slowly.  ugh.

Sprycel or Tasigna?  I don't even know which one I'd pick!

Probably no wrong answer.  Give the 600mg Gleevec a try.  Not much risk it seems but watch your blood counts closely for signs of suppression.

Hi Amyh,  If Gleevec is working for you....  Remember should paying for the drug ever become an issue, Gleevec is suppose to become Generic in 2015, I would guess maybe even as low as a few hundred, actually I have no idea, just take a guess in the dark.

Best wishes on whatever you decide.

I read that article by dr. Cortes and now I'm stressed out.  I want to have the best possible response because I have 3 little kids that I want to live a long time for...just like everyone else I'm sure.  My dr. said before he would prescribe gleevec for someone who was older, but for me at 31 he wanted to put me on a 2nd generation to have a better long term effect.  I'm just scared of those other 2 so I stay on the gleevec and I was really praying t would work super awesome for me and put me to 0.

What are the signs of suppression?

Yah.  My husband is in the air force so I get my medication for free.  Thank God.

I did read that and it's what caused me to panic that I've made the wrong decision.

I can understand your feelings about wanting to be there for your kids.  If it were me, I'd probably try tasigna or sprycel.  My reasoning would be that my current horse isn't helping me win the race, so why not try another one?  Even if you try T or S and hate it, you can always go back to gleevec.

Just my two cents,

Traci
