I've always had bladder inssues (UTI every 6 months or so) but since being dx, July 6th, I've had a chronic bladder infection. On my 3rd round of antibiotics since June, calling uroligist tomorrow but wondering if anyone else has bladder issues.

I started Sprycel Aug 6th and my WBC count has come down from 144,000 to 60,000!!!

Sprycel can cause infections to last longer.  I have the dickens of a time getting over infections, and I am more susceptible to them as well.  The infection information is on the drug insert they give you with the bottle.

Dear Sharon,

I used to get utis before my dx. I was put on Gleevac I got them constantly for 3 years. I went on Sprycel a year and a half ago and I haven't had one since. It does seem to take our bodies longer to heal sometimes.     Drink lots of cranberry juice and water  it does help.    Good Luck Billie

Hi Sharon,

I've had some issues with this too - at this stage we are not sure if I have had multiple infections (x4) or just that my very cautious (but not very systematic) doctor has been prescribing me antibiotics without sending off the sample to a lab. I have sent away a few samples at various times and none have come back abnormal (except for trace red blood cells, which is apparently normal sometimes anyway). I also get lower abdominal pain of unknown origin.

I am seeing a urologist tomorrow, so I will let you know if I find anything out...

Cheers,

Pin.

Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).

Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.

Regarding some lower abdominal pains (which Pin mentioned), the TKI drugs affect the lower intestines causing this pain.  These can feel like a UTI.  I am not saying that UTIs are not also increased for some, because they certainly may be.  But I just wanted to point out that I have thought on several occasions that I had a UTI when it was this intense lower abdominal pain, seemingly right where the bladder is located.  From what I can figure out, it is pain in the small intestines just before they connect to the large intestines.  These pains come and go every couple months for me.  Otherwise, the UTI issue has been mentioned by some as an issue for them.

I need to call my uroligist also.  LMK how u make out.  I've been getting pain in my left hip of an unknown nature.  I've had CTScans and theres nothing.  From what I'm reading I am now thinking it's just all symptoms of the Sprycel.
