Which TKI are you taking? Gleevec will cause weight gain due to water retention but that seems like a lot. Are you taking a water pill?

I am taking 100mg Sprycel. I do have the water retention problems. I was taking 40mg of Lasix a day but stopped because I was getting dehydrated. I gained most of that weight while on the diuretic.

Hi: You only go to the doctor once a year? I get blood work done every 3 months, and then at the 6 month check I get my PCR plus a office visit with the Oncologist. I did gain a lot of weight on the Gleevec, and then it just kept piling on. Now I have trouble losing it, but I have not gained anymore. I could see gaining water weight with the Sprycel.
I get the Thyroid checked once a year, and that has been normal.
I have my 6 month appointment this Wed. and I will get my PCR results also.
It does sound like your doing very well though. Keep it Up!!

Does sound like you have something else going on there. I'm on Gleevec, I haven't gained any weight but haven't lost any either despite increasing my exercise level. My specialist suggested it might be fluid retention, which though I do have, I wouldn't think it would somehow manage to keep me around the same weight despite my best efforts to lose some weight. My last thyroid test was okay, so for me it isn't that.
Hope you have some success at finding out what is causing your weight gain.

Hi Susan, I go to the Dr every three months for PCR and blood work.. This was just my one year appt. One thing my husband pointed out was that because of my water retention I stopped adding salt to my diet. Then I was getting very little iodine. Iodine deficiency can cause hypothyroidism. I started adding back some slat to my diet and have lost three pounds since last Tuesday. Still waiting for the thyroid test results though.

Hi Kim: Sometimes we need to figure things out ourselves, and looks like you did. I hope your Thyroid results are good. I guess I have to see what my doctor has to say this Wed with everything that I am trying to figure out also.
I am always anxious for my 6 month PCR test. My doing my routine blood work every 3 months, and then doing it again at the 6 month mark along with my PCR has been working for me for years. Every doctor does things differently.
I will post my results when I get them.

It's hard to say what Gleevec will do to a person's weight. I slowly and steadily lost weight, and can't seem to gain a pound back even if I try.
